Bad room. Good location to GCS Mixed service.

This hotel gets a 2 out of 5 for various unfortunate reasons. Nov 2019

Part 1
Customer Service.

Now let’s talk about the management service. We had excellent service mostly with exception of one female Brenda and one male managers on her shift who’s behavior towards us was not only embarrassing but was unprofessional and completely irrational yelling at us in front of other guest and it was so disappointing because I knew I’d have a review to write!
The female manager has no business being in a role like this and needs some serious customer service training. Especially in an alleged 4 star!! I’ve travelled extensively in 4-5 star properties and rarely have such behavior from a supposed professional treating two ill exhausted guests waiting for check-in with luggage in tow napping in the back corner of the lobby like we were homeless bums. She even yelled saying we were treating the lobby like a hostel?!? I’ve never stayed in a hostel ever. Nor would I ever expect that when I told her we were guests who just came off a red eye and were flightsick, that instead of helping us she yelled some more and through her arms around like a drama queen and stormed off all high and mighty. It’s truest one of the most mortifying experiences of my traveling life.

Part 2 the hotel

First let’s mention the hotel needs (other that lobby) some updating on creaky floors and lighting.

...***BEWARE, toilet is installed touching the radiator/heater. Yes it’s on...You cannot sit on the toilet straight on. See photo. Absolutely ridiculous!!! It’s advertised as a 4 star but you can’t even sit on the toilet unless you are sideways. Who made that decision?

SLEEP LOVERS BEWARE: Windows looked onto Empire State Building which was great but the windows themselves are covered in cheap roll downs with some slat blinds that provide a lot of light. *****Made sleeping past 7 difficult. But worse than that was the cleaners supply closet next to our room being accessed in the mornings till afternoon.... argh!!! Side note:
No amenities like a coffee in rooms. Coffee a block away.

****SHOWERING Warning to longer haired folks, the toiletries are basically the same bland products used at your typical 2 star accommodation.
Paint chipping off lower walls and old shower tub and mould under the sink flaked off on the extra towels. Room Floor is creeky.

SERVICE THANKS to some decent folk that work on the night shift, few on the day shift, bell-men, polite cleaning staff who made this review go from a 1 to a 2. Thank you!

PRO’s The location was very convenient to central station. Shout out to the doorman who were pretty decent with good tips on eating places on night shift.

Excellent hotel, 2 mins walk to the center. Very friendly, helpful staff. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a trip to NYC. Ideal location, everything on your doorstep.
