Our family of six has stayed here numerous times as we have family nearby. This resort is older with renovations so if staying ask for a renovated room. If you have younger ones you will probably want to stay in the inner courtyard area so you can more +have easier access to the pool. The pool area is something the Abbey should have updated when renovating- it is small and a bit dangerous in the proximity of the deep water end and kiddie area.

The staff runs some kid activities around the pool during certain times but they don't do a good job at "crowd control" and unless you are right there with the children you will find the pushy louder children will get their way.

The surroundings are beautiful on the banks of Lake Geneva and the boats are fun to watch.
The food is too expensive for a family and is not very good.

This resort is more geared for those who enjoy a spa experience and drinks on the lake or poolside.

My husband and 2 year old son and I all went to the beautiful Abbey Resort and Spa in Fontana Wisconsin last month. The exterior is stunning, a postcard from Wisconsin right before your eyes as you arrive. The Abbey is situated on lovely Lake more +Geneva and is only six short miles from the town of Lake Geneva. While there are plenty of pricey things to do if you wish there are also just as many kid friendly affordable things to do.

We went in August so we could almost depend on warm weather. Lake Geneva has a public beach that you may enter for a nominal fee or for free after 5:00. In August the sun is still up and hot at 5:00 and this is a great way to wear out the kids before bed. We packed a picnic supper and ate before the beach while tailgating out of our SUV. Brought our Frisbee and beach equipment and played and later ate. We went back to our great room at The Abbey and played more on the lush lawns that were right outside of our terrace. The Abbey has a great coffee shop with Starbuck's coffee for your fix in the morning and right outside the coffee shop is a beautiful marina complete with ducks that are accustomed to being fed. The gift shop down the hall sells bags of corn for $1.00. Needless to say our 2 year old was in heaven.

We drove to the Abbey from our home in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and enjoyed their free parking, beautiful sunsets and priceless family time.

Thanks for reading!
