Having just stayed at the Ace in Shoreditch London let me tell you how much more cool NOLA Ace is. Staff on point. Room's perfect. Bar and hangout areas catering for guests in the first instance but infusing enough of the community and specific events to make it feel inviting enough to just hangout there and chill. Had a great trip. So-much-so booked a return over thanksgiving. Have a word with London!

Hip Cool Style - medicore service and amenities

The good: location (warehouse district, close to lots of great restaurants, 10 minute walk to French Quarter, short streetcar/bus to Garden District), cool design, energy, friendly staff, room was spacious, comfy king bed, our room was on 8th floor and totally quiet. Bathroom is black - including tiles, paint and plumbing fixtures (OK if you like that). There's a Stumptown coffee attached to the lobby, which is a nice place to hang our (other than party night, when it's hopping.)

The bad: no carpeting (floor covering is cork tile), towels are cheap and scratchy, they didn't clean our room one day (had to call late in afternoon and initial response was "it's too late"), another day they only left one bath towel and one wash cloth, no USB ports. Wouldn't have minded as much if the room rates were more like a cheap motel - but they weren't.
