A charming desert oasis since 1930

by Taylor B

A 4-star hotel, the Arizona Inn in Tucson, Arizona, has been family-owned and operated since 1930. It was created by Isabella Greenway, Arizona's first congresswoman and a lifelong friend of Eleanor Roosevelt. Located at 2200 East Elm Street, it has been named one of the top 500 hotels in the world. It is famous for its 92 casita-style rooms and suites and its antique furnishings, much of which is restored and created by master craftsmen at its on-site cabinet making shop. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Arizona Inn is a landmark hotel that features a fitness center, business center, heated outdoor poll, tennis and badminton courts, croquet field, ice cream sundae bar, saunas, complimentary bicycles, complimentary wi-fi, room service, the Audubon bar and patio for poolside dining and the main dining room, which has a AAA Four-Diamond rating and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. My wife and I reserved a DeLuxe Patio King guest room with king-size bed, sitting area, furnished private patio, writing desk, coffee/tea maker, iron and ironing board, refrigerator and flat screen TV. And a copy of the New York Times delivered daily. And no resort fees. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff is friendly and professional and the food is worthy of a AAA Four-Diamond rating. What's not to like?

Second visit at this property. I love the service, love the history and quaint, quiet casitas and great pool.

We have stayed at this property twice now in Tuscon while visiting daughter at college. The staff are all very nice. The casitas are private, clean and rich in history. This visit I read a book on the Inn written by the great grandchildren of the owner to started the property. After learning the history (not knowing until this visit) made me love the place even more. It is not commercial which makes it even more appealing.
