Fort Calgary

This National Historic Site is considered the birthplace of Calgary in 1875, when the fort was built at the Bow and Elbow rivers. The site is known as Moh’kinsstis in Blackfoot in Treaty 7 territory, where the indigenous and non-indigenous people are celebrated together. Calgary is brought to life in the exhibits and tours at Fort Calgary. Families can learn about the North West Mounted Police and visit the barracks. Guided tours are available for an additional cost and can range from 20 to 90 minutes depending how in depth of a tour you would like.
