Four Corners Monument

NM-597, Teec Nos Pos, AZ

Just one hour from Mesa Verde is the spot where four states collide at one point: Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. Once upon a time, people could drive up and place their feet and hands in four corners to be in four states at once. You can still do that today, but be prepared to pay a hefty fee. Located on Navajo land, there is now a fee to enter the spot marking all four corners: $5 per person; ages 6 and younger are free (cash only). Inside, there is a marker and markings and during peak summer travel, you may have to wait a bit to get a photo taken.

While you are waiting, there are Native American shops available to purchase trinkets and jewelry. Other than this, there isn’t anything else to do or see. Bathrooms are provided, but don’t plan on this stop being a place to rest or grab a bite. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, from May 1 to September 15; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from September 16 to March 30; closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and News Year’s Day.
