John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art

5401 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota, 34243, FL

The famed Ringling Bros. circus family operates an impressive museum of art sitting on 20 acres of land inside the expansive Ringling attraction. The Venetian Gothic mansion was built in the mid-1920s at the tune of $1.5-million. It received a $15-million restoration in 2002, and is available for tours.

The property’s Museum of Art houses Baroque paintings, rare antiquities, and a treasure of items collected by the wealthy family during their many international travels. Of course, being a circus family, The Ringling also operates a Circus Museum that highlights the family’s Ringling Bros. circus, including an impressively large model of a circus. Also on the property is the 66-acre Bayfront Gardens.
