This beautiful museum of contemporary art is in the southern part of town, on the campus of Southern Oregon University. Take your kids here for a quiet break from the crowds. Even your youngest children will enjoy the eclectic and unusual works of art that include sculptures, paintings, visual media, and large scale installations. There’s an emphasis on local arts, but the museum also hosts special exhibits from nationally-known artists such as Chuck Close and Zhi Lin.

There’s always something to see here, and it’s a nice modern complement to the traditional plays produced on the other end of town.

The museum suggests an admission fee of $5, while students get in free.
