Tenement Museum

103 Orchard Street, Lower East Side, New York City, 10002, NY

Originally home to more than 7,000 immigrants in New York City, the Tenement Museum pays tribute to those working class individuals who came to the United States to start a new life during the 19th and 20th Centuries. The apartment-turned-museum looks as it did in the 1800s, with historical artifacts that help to show what life was like for those who lived there way back when. Guests can tour the building, meet residents of the apartment (portrayed by actors) and can walk around the Lower East Side neighborhood to see how the area has changed over the years. Tours range from one to two hours in length. Admission is $25 for adults and $20 for students. Infants and children under 6 are not allowed on certain tours.
