In May 2011 four of us (all adults between 30 - 50) drove up to Atwood lake and rented one of the cabins for Friday and Saturday. We were fishing on the lake and had a relaxing weekend planned. The cabin that we rented was nice, comfortable, and
more +exactly what we wanted. However, the staff at the park was not helpful and certainly didn't care about making our stay any nicer.
I was on the phone with Joan and had booked everything through her. I had paid in full prior to our visit and I told her that we would not be able to check in until around 9:00 PM on Friday evening, and asked if she could have our cabin unlocked for us. She assured me the ranger would have it unlocked, opened up, and lights on...no problems.
That evening came and we found the cabin locked up, not a single other person staying in the other cabins by it, noone in the main office (it was 9:00 PM) and the ranger on duty nowhere to be found. I ended up having to go to a house and knocking on a door, the man living there said it happens often and he even had the cell number to the ranger. The ranger, I think his name was Rick, showed up at 10:30 and let us in the cabin. While talking to us in the parking lot, he threatened to give my friend a ticket because one of his tailights on his boat trailer was out!
We finally got to hit the sack for that night and the next day we packed up and left and never will return.
When I called Joan later to explain the mixup she thought I was trying to get half our money back (as we had payed for 2 days). I told her no, that I just wanted her to know how long we had all saved up and taken time off work for this trip, and it was tarnished by staff not being friendly or helpful, or at least following through with the plan that they had told us. I will never go back.

We had rented one of the cabins at Atwood Lake Resort. Had a splendid time. My son and I were just going to go but also asked my parents to go. They had just celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary and figured they could use the
more +"getaway". The cabins were very nice and the people at the resort were happy to make sure all was good for our stay.
On Monday we rented a pontoon boat and cruised Atwood Lake - it was so peaceful. My dad however accidently threw 2 fishing poles in water (not able to retreive). That was the first incident. Then we were swimming at the resort that evening and my mom slipped on the tile coming out of the pool area. She cracked her knee very good. Thank God nothing broke.
On Tuesday we decided to go fishing at the dam area of the lake. My dad went to sit down on rocks and didn't realize there was no rock behind him. Took a bad fall also. All in all we had a very pleasurable trip. Relaxing by pool and lake with family that means the world to me.
Can't get much better than that.
