by Perkiomenville

Located Across the street is the Beach .I walked to pretty much everything . The staff was very nice and we had breakfast in the lobby area every morning: ...Coffee,juice,cereal,milk,donuts,bagles,etc. We stayed from 10/24 to 10/27/2019 .

Loyalty Doesn’t Matter

by capemayniac

My husband and I were regular customers of this hotel on our frequent visits to Cape May. We have routinely recommended it to family and friends, who have also stayed at this property. I would normally be writing a good review, but after 18 years of being a regular customer and knowing the owner on a first name basis, we are finished because our loyalty means nothing. This year we were booked for our usual fall stay during the same week in our same room. We never canceled in all our years of visiting. This year my father became very ill and it was apparent that we were spending his last days with him in the hospital. It was a week before our scheduled reservation. My husband called the Avondale and explained the situation to staff who knew we were regular customers. I understand the need for cancellation policies, but we had no choice. We were so surprised when we were charged a fee of $160 because we canceled our reservation. Our years of loyalty meant absolutely nothing and we were treated like strangers. My father passed away, but to the Avondale I guess they still expect you to go on vacation. We will never stay there again because greed trumps loyalty and money rules over kindness and sympathy. By the way, we were able to get to Cape May a few days in October. We stayed at another hotel which was priced more reasonably and had many more amenities. So now we will be loyal customers elsewhere.
