The Azul Sensatori has an entire building of the resort designated for families. This section is closest to the kids' club, activities pool, climbing wall, kids' pool and water-play area, as well as Breeze Lounge that is open for just for teens in the evening. In this section, you'll find 52 oversized Family Jacuzzi Suites that can accommodate up to two adults and three children. A dividing wall in the suite separates a private queen-size-bed area with the living area housing a double sofa bed and single sofa bed.

Another option for a large family - or if you're traveling with Grandma - is the Connecting Jacuzzi Ocean View Suite in the Luxury (aka Azul) section of the resort. Here, you are guaranteed two connecting oversized suites with one king-size bed and two queen-size beds. (The "guaranteed" part is important, as with many all-inclusive resorts you can request adjoining rooms, but they are never guaranteed.) These two rooms joined by a connecting door accommodate up to four adults and two children.

My family of four stayed in a Premium Jacuzzi Suite with two double beds in the Premium section, which afforded us some lovely upgrades: a private concierge check-in, champagne and fruit platter in the room, pillow and aromatherapy menu, complimentary wireless internet and pool butler service at the Premium pool (where staff offers cool towels, snacks, picnic lunch and sunscreen throughout the day).

Our Premium room was very classy, with dark wood furnishings and half-canopy beds. We were on the third floor of the Premium building, and were envious of the guests in the first-floor rooms, as they were housed in the Premium Jacuzzi Swim-Up Suites. These guests have access to a private outdoor hot tub (the only outdoor Jacuzzis on the premises) that is connected to the pool right in front of their terrace. Nice!

Amenities in all the suites in the resort include a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower, iPod docking station, air conditioning, 32-inch plasma TV, DVD player, safe, iron and ironing board, coffee maker, balcony or terrace, hair dryer, deluxe robes and once-daily stocked mini-bar.

But here's where the Azul Sensatori really walks the walk when it comes to promoting itself as a family-friendly resort: Before you arrive on the property, all you need to do is ask (through your travel agent, tour operator or an email to the resort) for a crib or pack-n-play, bottle warmer, bottle sterilizer, baby monitor, stroller and high chair, and the gear will be waiting in your suite upon arrival. Furthermore, a complimentary lending library of Fisher-Price toys aimed at children up to 5 years old is available, as well. Borrow items like the popular Go Baby Go Crawl-Along Musical Ball or even Kid-Tough Digital Cameras, then return them for new toys the next day. Forget packing all your gear and paying extra baggage fees to the airline; Azul Sensatori will provide baby gear and toys for you!

Other nice touches in the rooms: Pint-sized robes for kids and stepping stools for the sinks (they are unusually high). All you need to do is ask the concierge for them, if these items are not provided in the room for you already. Children under age 3 stay for free at the Azul Sensatori, while kids ages 3 to 12 are charged half price of the room rate.
