When it comes to room configuration, location and amenities, be sure to do your homework as the 223 rooms and suites here (in 12 different categories) are not all created equal. For starters, some have been renovated with sleek dark wood furniture and updated bathroom fixtures, while others have yet to go on under the proverbial knife. Across the board, in all rooms, you'll find tiled flooring throughout, a king bed or two double beds, satellite TV, coffee maker, refrigerator, bath with a tub and shower. Most rooms and suites have a double pullout sofa, with room for a rollaway bed at no extra charge.

Pay attention to location when booking your room -- the resort is quite large, and depending on which building you're in it could be a fairly long schlep to the beach. The bottom line at this resort is that there are many different rooms to choose from and the prices vary depending on two factors -- location within the property, and the accompanying views. You'll want to ask a lot of questions when booking -- especially if having one of the more recently renovated rooms or balcony access is important to you and your family.

Room types include:

Sunset Oceanfront One-Bedroom Suite
Located on the second and fourth floors of the Chela Bay building, these suites face the ocean for beach and ocean views. All suites but one have a balcony and up to four can fit into either a king bedroom with one double sofa bed or a two double bedroom with one double sofa bed.

Palm Breeze Oceanview One-Bedroom Suite With Balcony
With views of the ocean and resort grounds, these suites are located on the fifth floor of the main building with balconies facing the ocean. While they have ocean views, they are not closest to the ocean. Rooms feature one king bed and one double pullout sofa to sleep five.

Seabreeze Walkout Honeymoon Beachfront Suite
Found on the beach of the Lanai building, families can walk directly out to the beach in rooms with one king bed and one double pullout sofa. The suites sleep four and are located in the Lanai building.

Royal Orchid Honeymoon Oceanfront Patio Terrace Suite
These ocean-view suites offer a choice of a king bed and one double pullout sofa or two double beds and one double pullout sofa. Both sleep four. Rooms have large patios with ocean views, as well as concierge service on the second and third floors of the Lanai building.

Royal Orchid Oceanfront Patio Terrace Suite
Recently enlarged, these suites have ocean or beach views in the Lanai building. Select from one king bed and one double pullout sofa or two double beds and one double pullout sofa; the rooms have connecting doors to turn two rooms into one and sleep up to eight.

Hummingbird Honeymoon Oceanview Mega Balcony Suite
Located on the second and third floors in the main building's East wing, these large suites include a living area with large walkout balcony. Choose a king bed with double sofa bed or two double beds with one single sofa bed to accommodate five in suites with garden or sea views.

Bougainvillea Ultra Luxury Oceanview Mega Balcony Suite
Also larger suites with a sunken living area and a large balcony, these East and West wing suites have views of the gardens or sea and accommodate up to five. Choose between a king bed with double sofa bed or two double beds with single sofa bed.

Coconut Grove Honeymoon Grande Luxe Oceanview Mega Suite
Located on floors one through three in the East and West wings and two through five of the Main building, these rooms feature ocean views or views of the resort grounds. Select between two double beds or one king bed with sofa bed configurations to sleep five.

Coconut Grove Grande Luxe Oceanview Mega Suite
Located in the Main building and its East and West wings, these suites have views of the pool, resort grounds and sometimes ocean. Ocean views are more likely at the ocean end of the wings, while suites in the Main building's center are larger. Up to five can fit into a choice of one king or two double beds with double sofa beds.

Hibiscus Honeymoon Mega Suite
These rooms with one king bed and one double pullout sofa are spread out onto two levels. All suites, which are on the first through third floors of the East and West wings, have patios or balconies and overlook resort grounds and the Venetian Terrace.

Hibiscus Luxury Mega Family Suite
Like the Hibiscus Honeymoon suites, these are very similar but offer a second bedding option of two double beds and one double pullout sofa.

Caribbean Premium Family Room
Choose between one king or two double beds with a pullout sofa in these rooms of the Main building where the East and West wings meet. Fourth and fifth floor rooms do not have balconies. The rooms offer views of the resort grounds, Venetian Terrace, or some ocean.

Tropical Paradise Balcony Family Room
Located on the upper floors of the Main building, these newly renovated rooms offer views of the mountains and resort grounds. King bed or two double bed configurations include sofa beds to sleep five.

St. Mary's Deluxe Family Room
Also located on the upper floors of the Main building, these newly renovated rooms offer views of the Kid's Center and the mountains. King bed or two double bed configurations include sofa beds to sleep five.

Prime Minister Penthouse Oceanview One-Bedroom Suite
With views of the ocean, mountains and entire resort, this one-of-a-kind suite has panoramic views, mainly from a large deck with 360-views. The suite is by request only have features a king bedroom and a queen pullout sofa, accommodating up to five.
