Overview

This historic property, originally opened in 1915, re-opened in 2011 after a major renovation. Located in Bear Mountain State Park, it’s an Adirondack-style lodge overlooking Hessian Lake with ample stone and timber details, and two huge fireplaces.

In the main inn, there are 15 guestrooms and suites, all with satellite television, free Wi-Fi and complimentary continental breakfast. There are an additional 24 rooms in Overlook Lodge that can accommodate rollaway beds, and have a kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator. There are also four stone cottages with six bedrooms in each. Each “rustic,” yet comfortable cottage has a front porch and a common living area with wood-burning fireplace, microwave and mini-refrigerator.

Onsite dining includes Restaurant 1915, Blue Roof Tapas Bar, Hiker’s Café and Stand 10. Parents can enjoy the full-service spa. In addition to access to all the Bear Mountain Park amenities — including an indoor carousel, ice-skating rink and lake swimming — kid-friendly events like “Breakfast with Santa” take place on-property.

A Historic Gem!

by FunL0ver1

Had not visited Bear Mountain Inn for 20+ years and found the renovation of this historic property which has been completed within the past five years to be very nice. The heating system is a bit noisy, but the rooms are wonderfully large and hence this is a fabulous location to enjoy with family and friends!

Our stay at Bear Mountain Inn was fantastic in spite of several challenges. We stayed in the lodge and when we first arrived we had no heat in our room. We called maintenance and they quickly came and fixed the situation. Warm and toasty after that.
The next morning we awoke to a power outage that was county-wide. No fault of the Inn. We had the good fortune of running into the manager when we went to see what was going on. She invited us to complimentary coffee and bagels. While we were waiting for the electricity to come back on we took several short hikes and visited the trailside museum.
In spite of these challenges we had a wonderful time. All the staff were friendly and very accommodating. We will be sure to return for another visit.
