Belize Family Friendly Restaurants
San Pedro Town, Belize 501-226-2014
Celi's is one of the original services available for tourists on Ambergris Caye and its reputation is worthy of its 30 year history. There's a bakery on one side, so stock up on Johnny Cakes and other sweet treats to munch on later. The cafe is known for its ceviche and fish sandwiches served with fresh baked bread. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, there's always something happening at Celi's.
Pescador DriveSan Pedro Town, Belize 501-226-2176
Plan on at least one meal at Elvi's, one of the most popular dining spots on Ambergris Caye for locals and tourists, and make that meal Friday night for the authentic Mayan buffet and live music. However, if your kids insist on burgers, those are very good here as well. It's what you would expect from an island cafe, complete with thatched roof, bamboo furniture and open air dining.
Buccaneer StreetSan Pedro Town, Belize 501-226-2019
No shoes or shirt required here at this restaurant located right on the beach. Seriously, the kids can kick around in the sand while waiting for their food and no one will worry about it. Renowned as the best American breakfast anywhere in Belize, Estel's is incredibly low-key, but yes, the food is great. Open for lunch and dinner as well with seafood and sandwiches.
2 Mapp StreetBelize City, Belize 501-223-5640
Located on the banks of the Haulover Creek, this sports pub is one of the few good dining spots in Belize City. And even though it's a sports bar, there is a dress code at night forbidding shorts. Owned by the people who created Beliken Beer, the national brew, the Riverside is known for great steaks, excellent fish and an overall combination of American and Caribbean cuisine. If your children are younger, consider having lunch here and avoiding the nightlife atmosphere.
Black Coral StreetSan Pedro Town, Belize 501-226-4313
It gets a little lively here in the evening, so you may want to bring the kids here for lunch or an early dinner, but you won't find better burgers and sweet potato fries anywhere in Belize. The place is not fancy, but also has great fried chicken and local treats like craboo ice cream. The Tackle Box is located at the end of a very long pier so dining outside is a must so the kids can enjoy the sea life. The view back of the activity on the beach of San Pedro Town is quite colorful as well.
