You would think an island in the middle of the Atlantic would have its fair share of ice cream joints. For some reason, that's not true of Bermuda. Bailey's, near the Grotto Bay Resort and Crystal Caves, is one of the rare exceptions, featuring 30 homemade flavors including coconut, banana, and a sweet concoction of the island's famous cocktail, a Dark and Stormy.

Even if you're not staying at The Reefs, stop by this seaside restaurant for lunch or dinner. Nestled against the limestone cliff walls, with trees growing through the floor, the restaurant overlooks the resort's gorgeous beach. Start with fish chowder and then move on to coconut-crusted shrimp or the yummy fish tacos.

This is the place to grab a bite when touring Dockyard. There just aren't that many sit-down restaurants. The pub-style menu includes burgers, shepher's pie (minced beef and mashed potatoes), salads and macaroni and cheese.

Down the road from The Reefs in Southampton is this local favorite. The dinner menu features fish, shrimp scampi, Filet Mignon, and a list of pastas that will keep the kids happy. Also try the sushi, which many Bermudans consider the best on the island.

This casual eatery in Hamilton makes for a good stop when exploring Bermuda's downtown. The eatery claims to have the only wood-burning pizza oven on the island. Pizza and pasta are good choices, especially since prices are reasonable compared to other island restaurants. There is a children's menu.

Bermuda's signature dish is fish chowder, a plentiful seafood stew spiced with sherry pepper sauce and topped off with a splash of Gosling's Black Seal Rum. Try it alongside businessmen in Bermuda shorts on the outdoor patio of the Lobster Pot in Hamilton.

From the upstairs balcony facing Front Street, you can take in Hamilton's downtown scene. The crowd changes depending on the hour. Families come for lunch and early dinner and later on, the Pickled Onion's trendy bar attracts 20somethings. Good bets include the coconut-crusted shrimp, the pan-seared rockfish, chocolate rum cake and the all-day Sunday brunch.

You can't miss Port O Call, right on Front Street overlooking the harbor and ferry in Hamilton. The restaurant is a town favorite, winning accolades for its fresh grilled fish and lobster dishes. The sweet pan roasted scallops are also a treat.

Parts of this restaurant, one of Bermuda's oldest buildings, date to 1670. The ambiance and decor is 17th century English with high-backed chairs and wrought iron chandeliers with faux burning. The restaurant, pricey but worth it, serves steak and seafood. 'Tweens and teens into fine dining will like the place, as long as they can handle leisurely meals.
