An Easter basket full of colorful, candy-filled eggs is quite the treat, but for kids (and even their parents), the real prize is the hunt itself! If you’re looking for the ultimate holiday contest, these Easter egg hunts will go above and beyond the much-loved tradition in 2018.

White House Easter Egg Roll – Washington D.C.

Thousands of lucky families are invited (via a lottery system) to compete in the White House Easter Egg Roll in Washington, D.C. The egg roll consists of pushing a hard-boiled egg with a spoon across the South Lawn of the White House. The event, now in its 140th year, has evolved to include other activities, such as games, music, stories and crafts. The egg hunt will take place on April 2, 2018.

Center Village Egg Hunt – Copper Mountain, Colorado

The Center Village Egg Hunt, also known as Colorado’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt, is hosted at Copper Mountain in Colorado. The popular event appeases several age groups — tiny tykes search for eggs around Copper’s Climbing Wall, while 65,000 eggs await children ages 7 to 11 in Center Village. Big kids have even more competition as they hunt for “Copper Eggs” hidden on the mountain. Prizes, an egg decorating party, and visits and pictures with the Easter Bunny complete the fun-filled event. This year’s event takes place on Sunday, April 1.
