My family and I only stayed at this hotel one night, and that was one night too many!! The condition of this hotel was absolutely horrible. The carpet on the floor was wet and soggy. My son took off his sneakers, and his socks got soaked more +immediately. The dresser in the room was old and broken. My shoes stuck to the bathroom floor, and the bathtub was soo gross looking and unclean, that nobody took a shower!

When I booked this room, I asked if animals were allowed, and I was told no by the front desk. Well, that was absolutely not true! As we walked down the hallway to get to our room, we heard one dog growl and that set off a whole sequence of dogs barking, growling and carrying on! That was pretty much proof that I was lied to when I booked this room about animals not being allowed!

Unfortunately, we were driving for several hours, extremely tired, and it was just too late for us to try to find another hotel. So we just slept with one eye open, one foot stuck to the sticky, gross bathroom floor, and got the heck out of there as soon as we could in the morning!!

So I hope that this review will help warn people about this horrible hotel, and definitely stay somewhere else!!

With a small budget and limited time my family of 4 set out to from lower CT to explore Washington DC for 3 days then head south to Colonial Williamsburg, VA for 2 days. The car ride to DC is approximately 5.5 hours into Washington DC.

more +/> After much research on hotels both right in DC proper and in the nearby suburbs, we decided on staying at the Best Western IWO Jima in Arlington VA and we were very pleased. Not only was the hotel clean and the staff very welcoming and helpful, we were only a few blocks from a Metro station and just 1 stop outside of the DC line. My sons, who were 8 and 10 years old enjoyed the whole experience of "commuting" into the city from the hotel. Only in the evenings when we were tired from a long day of sight-seeing were they somewhat less enchanted with the walking! But the hotel had an indoor pool for them to look forward to. In addition, the immediate neighborhood was quiet and had a nice selection of places to eat.

There was even a Safeway food store where I picked up some snacks to keep in our room which was equipped with a small refrigerator that even had a freezer space. Overall we were very pleased with the price ($139+tax/night) and location and would recommend it to other families looking for an economical place to stay just steps away from downtown DC where even modest hotels start at close to $200 per night. We even stayed at the Best Western in Williamsburg, VA for $79 per night and even included a breakfast buffet and indoor pool.

Best Western was a good choice!
