Already famous from the movie A River Runs Through It, the Gallatin River's scenic stretch of water offers an amazing trout habitat. There are plenty of guides and gear shops in the neighborhood to offer fishing during all seasons.

In winter, opt for one of the guided snowshoe tours. In the summer, ask the concierge to direct you to a specific hiking trail, according to your ability, around Lone Peak into nearby Beehive Basin. Montana is at its best when you're deep in the forest among the wildflowers and wildlife in the nearby mountain ranges.

Big Sky prides itself on having the most diverse and balanced terrain, offering a wide selection of runs for beginners to intermediates to thrill seekers. After all, there are 5,512 acres, spread across three mountains, and two ski areas at which to play. Novices can sample the long, three-mile jaunts on rolling green runs like the top-to-bottom Pacifier, while the tree-lined steeps above, off the Lone Peak Tram on the South Face, attract the most experienced skiers. Middle-of-the-road skiers should hit the front side of Andesite Mountain for nicely groomed, intermediate runs.

Take your family to the tree tops, and fly above the valley floor with three different lines that vary in length and height. Open year-round, the zip lines are operated by Big Sky's Snowsports School. They also offer guests the opportunity to snowshoe or ski to the launching point.
