You can work off a meal or work up an appetite with swimming, hydrobikes or renting mountain bikes and hitting the Centennial Trail, which goes by the lodge. |
Sylvan Lake Lodge Dining 24572 Highway 87•Custer, SD •605-574-2561 This wide-open historic dining room is known for its native game and seafood, but it's the stellar view of the mountains and Harney Peak that make this place special -- even romantic if the kids mind their manners. Reservations are recommended for dinners, which run about $19 to $30 per entree, but lunches are more casual and affordable at $7 to $12. Look for buffalo stew, creamy tomato basil soup, pan-seared buffalo steak tips and asparagus salad, fresh trout and even picnic lunches you can pre-order and grab for a hike. |
