The Fountains offers over 700 two- and three-bedroom villas and a three-bedroom presidential suite, all with full kitchens, a screened-in balcony, washer/dryer units, irons and ironing boards, hairdryers, free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs in each bedroom and a larger flat-screen in the living room (with on-demand movies and cable). Furnishings feature a dark wood and burgundy palette with a streamlined, modern vibe.

The villas do not come with a cleaning service unless a guest is staying eight days or more. On the eighth day, a complimentary cleaning is provided. Guests staying less than eight days can request a "tidy" service ($75) or a full cleaning ($125). Fresh towels and additional dishes and flatware are complimentary. Just call the front desk.

Every villa comes with a sofa bed in the living room, and while kitchens are stocked with dishes and flatware for six, as many as eight, plus a baby, can sleep comfortably in a two-bedroom villa, while even more can sleep in a three-bedroom villa. The master bath features a small whirlpool tub, a separate shower, and a private toilet. The second bathroom is standard with a tub and shower combo.

The dining room seats four guests with two more stools at the bar. Every villa has a screened-in balcony with an overhead fan, and a table and comfy chairs for al fresco dining.

Orlando without the Parks

by Nosorog63

We love going to the fountains resort in Orlando! 22,000 square-foot swimming pool it’s just one of the attractions, love taking the kids to Orlando without having to go to the parks. All the rooms are newly renovated. Great bang for the buck.

Family Activities

Clubhouse Pool
A 6,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor pool sits directly behind the main check-in building called the Clubhouse and beside Lake Eve. Palm trees, an outdoor whirlpool and a large toddler pool with fountains complete the beautiful pool scene. Chaise lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas and chairs for four are sprinkled throughout the pool area.

The indoor portion of the pool has a zero-entry "beach" entrance and is shouldered by a family-oriented indoor bar called Splash that serves frozen drinks and kid-friendly meals. Two flat-screen TVs are available, too. A whirlpool also sits beside the indoor pool.

Restrooms sit very near the action for convenience. Lifeguards are not on duty. The pool area is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Wakoola Springs
The Wakoola Springs area is a 75,000-square-foot tropical treasure with two twisting (but not scary) waterslides, a zero-entry pool, interactive water fountains and two whirlpools. Kids must be 42 inches tall to ride the waterslides. Slides are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A children's splash pool is also on hand for children.

The pool is ringed in chaise lounges, restrooms, designated smoking areas (a sign specifically disallows smoking near the kiddie pool) and a large outdoor snack bar serving burgers, frozen drinks and more.

The Wakoola Springs area is a stunner, no doubt, but during the out-of-school holidays and summer months, this resort is popular so to score a chaise, you need to reserve chairs early by draping towels over them and hoping for the best. There are also no lifeguards on duty, so parents need to helicopter kids at every moment for safety.

A station sells hair braids, hair wraps, and air-brush tattoos. A volleyball net beckons from inside the pool and a giant chess game sits beside the pool.

Guests can rent regular and deluxe cabanas at the Wakoola Springs pool kiosk. Small and large cabana prices range from $40 to $75 depending on half-day or full-day rentals and size of cabana. The cabanas feature chaise lounges, a small fan and an ice bucket. Outdoor showers are sprinkled around the pool. It is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Quiet Pool
Technically this beautiful, quiet pool lives with no name, which is a shame because it's clearly meant to be the quiet pool that calls to adults wanting to languidly float, frozen drink in hand. A staff member casually referred to the pool as the "Lake Eve Pool." A whirlpool sits beside the pool with restrooms. It is open 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Game Room
This enormous space for kids has air hockey and loads of video games. A room for younger kids to play, watch movies and create arts and crafts sits just off the game room. Arts and crafts projects include painting ceramics and designing your own flip-flops (for a fee). The Fountains Resort does not provide babysitting.

Sports Fun
The Fountains has a volleyball net, a tetherball and a small sandy beach with Adirondack-style chairs.

Boating
Guests can rent an electric catamaran at the Water's Edge kiosk that sits next to the Clubhouse pool.

Firepits
Firepits ideal for roasting S'mores are situated around the property and hammocks also swing in the sun for cooler-weather lounging.

Theme Park Neighbors
The Fountains sits close to the Orlando action. Walt Disney World is an eight-minute drive away, Universal Orlando is 14 minutes away, Sea World is six minutes and Gatorland is a 13-minute drive.

Not quite an hour's drive to the east and you'll be at the Kennedy Space Center in Port Canaveral (worth it for science-fans). Head southwest for a breezy 48-minute drive to LEGOLAND Florida (an incredible day to remember for your mini-figs).

Family Dining

H2O
Sitting in the beautiful Clubhouse lobby is H20 serving martinis, appetizers and dinner. It is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, though the kitchen closes at 9 p.m.

Splash
Splash is the pool-bar that sits in the Clubhouse's indoor/outdoor area with over a dozen bar chairs and frozen drinks, salads, flatbreads and burgers. A kids' menu is also available. It is open from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.

Starbucks
Located in the Clubhouse, Starbucks serves up your favorites all day and into the evening. It is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Wakoola Springs Grill
You'll find this casual grill at the Wakoola Springs pool area (aka the insanely sprawling pool with the slides). Live music with a singer and guitar is often on scene in the afternoons and evenings. The grill serves burgers, appetizers and frozen drinks from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

The Market at the Fountains
The Market is a convenient stop-off located in the Clubhouse for pastries, muffins, sandwiches, chips, sodas, staples and more. You'll also find items that you might have forgotten to pack, like shorts, hats, sunblock, flip-flops and so forth. Need a bottle of red or white wine? A huge selection is on hand. It is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

BBQ and Picnic Areas
You'll find gas and charcoal grills and outdoor tables throughout the resort close to each villa's building for convenience.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Food Policy
The resort maintains a strict "outdoor food policy" in the pool areas, which states that guests can bring in small coolers with individually packaged snacks and baby food, but full meals are not allowed.

Attraction Tickets
Purchase Orlando theme park tickets at a slight discount at the Fountains Clubhouse (Disney and Universal are offered on a multi-day basis).

Fitness Center
The Fountain's fitness center sits on the ground floor in the Clubhouse and has huge flat-screen TVs, cardio machines, free weights and yoga balls.

Onsite Laundry
Full washer and dryer units, plus soap, are in every villa.

Resort Fee
A resort fee of $12.51 per day covers onsite parking, free Wi-Fi and pool towels.

Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in is at 4 p.m. and check-out is at 10 a.m.

The Art of Smart Timing
Keep in mind that over 700 villas can accommodate four to 10 guests each, meaning that the Fountains' three pools and snack areas will be brimming with people during the busy seasons. When school is out - springbBreak, all holidays, and summer vacation -- the Fountains is packed. Scoring a chaise lounge may be challenging work. Lay out your towel early.

The quiet time to visit the resort is in late September, October, January and February. Parts of March, April, and early to mid-May are also quiet.

Getting There
The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is a 21-minute drive, depending on traffic, to the Fountains Resort. The Fountains is located along Orlando's International Drive. Rent a car at the airport if planning to explore the Orlando area and all of its attractions.

Getting Around
The Fountains has a comfortable shuttle bus that transfers people and luggage around the large property. Need a ride to the fitness room at the Clubhouse? Just call the front desk and place your request. Plan to meet the driver in your building's lobby. The shuttle operates from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

For Mom and Dad
H20 in the Fountain's Clubhouse is a lovely spot to stop without the kids for a martini and adult conversation. For off-property fun, head to one of the local golf courses. Grande Vista Golf Club & Marriott Golf Academy is a six-minute drive from the Fountains. The Kids Golf-4-Free program allows kids 15 years and younger to play at no charge after 3 p.m. when accompanying a paying adult. Hawk's Landing Golf Club is also nearby and is an eight-minute drive from the Fountains.
