Expected a lot more - take your money elsewhere

I expected so much more from this resort. We stayed in the Jefferson Suite and what I assumed would be a luxurious experience turned out to be average at best. For the price we paid (over $700 per night), I was completely underwhelmed. The suite was drafty, outdated and looked like things hadn't been changed in about 30 years.
The suite was not cozy. It had a small couch, and an uncomfortable chair (with no ottoman) next to it. The bathroom did not have a built in fan, so after taking a shower, the entire room is steamed up.Upon arrival we found wrappers and garbage under one of the beds - obviously the maids don't bother to even look under them.
The maid left her checklist and a Styrofoam empty cup on the desk where our "welcome tablet" was. Hardly a nice welcome when the maid can't bother to take out her garbage. I told the lady at the front desk about the wrappers and the cup and she just grimaced - no "wow I'm sorry" nothing.

Don't bother with the spa. They do not have an indoor hot tub. The only hot tub is outside, looks old and clearly is for use for the entire resort - not private to the spa. After having a massage, I expect to be able to sit in a hot tub - and preferably one just for women, not some shared hot tub with entire resort. Their waiting area is a completely open, vaulted area. when I went to relax prior to my service, there were women in there gabbing away and everything was echoing.. The only other waiting area was a small cold room with "snacks". The snacks consisted of stale pretzels that had not been replaced in what looked to be about a month. I had the unfortunate experience of being put in the room closest to the waiting area. Common sense would tell you to have a door separating the spa rooms from the waiting areas - well no one has figured this out. So as I was trying to relax, I heard several loud conversations right outside my door and the clanking from the snack jar. It was not the relaxing spa experience I was hoping for. Find a spa offsite somewhere else, because this one is completely underwhelming.
The outdoor walking paths were nice, and we played tennis at the club. Those were the best parts of our trip. Honestly, I felt more comfortable at the Hilton Garden Inn in Charlottesville. How sad is that? You do not get what you pay for at this place. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be many other options for "resorts" in the area.

We came for a gathering and to visit dear friends who are members. Our stay was very comfortable and we had a lovely time . We look forward to staying again in the future. Our friends Jim and Amanda Daniero always speak so well of their club and We are so glad we got a chance to see it first hand?
