Getting There and Around
If you're visiting Boston during a time when the weather is decent, getting around Boston by foot is a great way to see the city. If walking doesn't appeal to you, there is no shortage of transporation options, including trolleys, buses, boats and the T, Boston's subway. Like in any large city, parking is scarce and expensive, so if you can avoid renting a car, you might want to consider it. If you're flying into and out of Logan Airport, Boston's main airport, take the T's Blue Line to and from the newly renovated Airport Station and board free Massport shuttle buses to all airline terminals.
The Art of Smart Timing
Weather-wise, Boston is great in late spring and early fall (September and October). Summers can get hot and humid; but it's still a great time to visit because (aside from the fact that the kids are out of school) there are loads of family-friendly outdoor activities planned during summer months. There is something special about a winter visit, particularly during the Christmas season in Beantown. Wandering through Quincy Market with the kids all bundled up, sipping a piping hot cocoa and window shopping, it's something to experience.
