Breckenridge Family Vacations
Families will love:
  • World-class skiing with 31 lifts, 155 trails and miles of pure white powder
  • Picturesque Victorian town with charming shops, cafes and restaurants
  • Four season, family-friendly outdoor adventurer for all ages

Breckenridge is one of the Rockies' oldest ski towns, and it's also one of North America's most popular -- due in large part to the excellent quality of its mountain terrain, the historic charm of its downtown district and the area's well-maintained tourist infrastructure. Gondolas and shuttles shuffle visitors from resorts to restaurants to the base of the mountain with ease -- for free. Childcare facilities are numerous. Trendy gourmet restaurants abound. And the mountain, well, the mountain is a paradise for outdoor adventurers of any age no matter what the season.

With 31 lifts, 155 trails and miles of pure white powder, the main attraction at Breckenridge is, not surprisingly, its world-class ski resort. The massive mountain is divided into four peaks, numbered seven through 10. Each peak is practically its own smaller ski resort, and a family could easily spend a few days exploring the trails of just one numbered peak. Although Breckenridge offers plenty of advanced terrain, from massive half-pipes to some of Colorado's steepest runs, there are ample trails for younger children and newbie skiers as well (most of which are located on peaks eight and nine).

Off the trails, there's plenty to do. If one of the kids decides skiing is no longer of interest (this tends to happen after a bad tumble), you can spend your days dog sledding, ice skating, playing in the children's museum or flying down the mountain on a roller coaster. Breckenridge is a picturesque Victorian town with a spate of charming shops, cafes and restaurants lining its bustling Main Street -- and a day spent shopping and strolling around downtown provides an excellent break from the snowy slopes.
