Find the Best Price for Your Stay

The Buccaneer has a multitude of options for accommodations, including Family Cottage Suites and a house, The Buccaneer Beach House at Whistle Point. All rooms feature mini-fridges, coffemakers, and bottled water, and most feature balconies or patios with stunning -- absolutely stunning -- views of the island. Cribs and rollaway beds are available, as are connecting rooms. Among all the room options, these are the best for families:

Family Cottage Suites
These suites have one king or two queen beds and a separate room with two twin beds for kids (and one of them turns into a trundle as well!). The kids' room features playful décor and a separate TV and bathroom with a tub.

Buccaneer Beach House at Village Point
This house may be the most luxurious place we've encountered! It features six bedrooms, a private pool, a full kitchen and wraparound terrace. It is a great option for weddings or family reunions.

Caribbean Ease

by triniLG

The Buccaneer is a top tier hotel on the beautiful island of St. Croix - an island that hasn't been spoiled by tourism. The staff is warm, helpful and ready to make sure whatever you need, it will happen. And not because the policy is that way, it's the island charm of the locals - the old Caribbean feel that everyone matters. I haven't experienced that for a while as the Caribbean becomes more congested with competition rather than quality.

The hotel is slowly being updated and the rooms do need a facelift..however, they are clean and spacious and all with a great view of the 360 degree views available. And, quite frankly, I spent only my sleeping hours in the room as there are not one but TWO perfect beaches (cleaned daily) to go swim, snorkel or rest comfortably in plenty of loungers.
There are tennis courts, a small gym, LOTS of beach amenities like paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling gear (all included), and a small basketball court beachside.
There is a lovely restaurant on the premises that services one beach and the pool, and the other beach's cafe is being renovated and to be finished, I think, by the end of the year or perhaps earlier.

The grounds are gorgeous and the golf course looks like an enjoyable one with a few holes by the ocean. The ocean.....although there is a reef around, one beach is completely clear and perfect for swimming. The other does have some rocks and a pathway into the water is well-defined by the hotel. The snorkeling needless to say is great.

Breakfast is a good buffet - something for everyone with the most delightful staff serving. The restaurant is open and has stunning views of the ocean. I was feeling ill and the staff went out of their way to help me - gave me some island herbal tea, bitters and ginger ale ( a new now for me as a combination - isn't that a Shirley Temple??- that settled my stomach and got me right back on track. lunch and dinner is also served here and quite good. Fun bar - OK entertainment performs on the occasional night.

I'm planning another trip - third time in a row. A lot of guests have been going for many years. The island is NOT a destination for parties, all night dancing, or getting wasted at a bar but one of bonding, relaxing with loved one/ones, adventure (there is island exploring nearby and diving), some good restaurants (ask the locals for their favorites) and folks that will speak to you wherever you are. I felt safe.
It's not expensive.
The airport rental car service can back up as everyone arrives at the same time.
The roads need some TLC.

I truly enjoy the pace and the place.

Great property to stay at. Beautiful views. The staff makes the place though. Everyone was so hospitable. Everyone goes above/beyond what is expected. Milton and Ebony’s optimistic and welcoming attitudes made our breakfast experience more enjoyable. Graham runs the pool area with precision; taking care of every detail. I look forward to our next visit!

Family Activities

Beach
The hotel offers several stretches of beach to enjoy. The main, centrally located beach is especially great for families, with water sports rentals -- kayaks, paddleboarding, you name it -- and land games, such as croquet. All beaches are open to the public, though they never feel too crowded.

Pools
The hotel offers a few pools. The Grotto Pool isn't reserved for adults, though is quiet than the others.

Kids' Camp
Available from 9 a.m to 4:30 p.m. daily, Kids' Camp offers games, crafts, movies and more for children ages 4 to 12.

Treasure Hunts and Crab Races
The resort hosts family treasure hunts and crab races each week -- ask for a schedule of events when you arrive at the resort.

Buck Island Tours
The hotel offers tours to Buck Island via Caribbean Sea Adventures.

Family Dining

Complimentary Breakfast
Complimentary breakfast is served at The Terrace, which offers stunning views of the ocean. It includes everything from fresh fruit and cold and hot cereals to full entrees, such as French toast and omelettes.

The Mermaid
The Mermaid serves kid-pleasers, with a kids' menu that includes sandwiches and pizza. Mom and dad will enjoy grown-up versions of those items, along with seafood and salads. The Mermaid is located in a covered building outside, and is just steps from the sand.

The Grotto Grill
Located by the Grotto Beach and Pool (a quiet area), The Grotto Grill serves hamburgers, hot dogs and other hot weather favorites, plus refreshing cocktails for mom and dad.

Room Service
In-room is available during regular restaurant hours; an additional fee applies for delivery.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is complimentary at the resort.

Fitness Center
It's a workout just to get around the resort, but if you're looking for a traditional gym, The Buccaneer has that, too. It's open 24 hours and has free weights, cardio equipment and universal machines. Classes and personal training are offered for an additional fee. The resort also has a running trail and hiking paths.

Seasonal Events
The hotel recognizes the holidays, with visits and gifts from Santa in December and an Easter egg hunt in the spring.

The Art of Smart Timing
The Buccaneer is consistently busy, though the winter months are especially popular throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands. We recommend a visit in the fall or summer. Mid-April to mid-December, the hotel offers discounts, such as 50 percent off rates for a second room.

Getting There
The closest airport is Henry E. Rohlson Airport, about 20 minutes away.

Getting Around
You will not only need a car to get around the island of St. Croix, but may also need one to get around the expansive resort. The resort also has drivers who will help you get where you need to go, and also help you when checking in and checking out.

For Mom and Dad
There are a multitude of opportunities for romance at this resort. You could enjoy a nightcap at one of the lounges, go for a stroll on the beach, or book a massage at the onsite spa.
