Overview

Built in 2012, the modern, spacious hotel that is the Bushkill Inn & Conference Center is not your typical mountain resort in the Poconos. Located just a few minutes from Bushkill Falls, the resort has multiple levels, with its main lobby for check-in on the second floor and the grand lobby with a lounge area and entrance to the restaurants located on the third. Throughout the hotel, dark wood finishes, plush, curved couches and tiled floors and walls ooze modernity and luxury — exactly what some families may want after a day of hiking, biking, fishing, skiing or tubing.

At the hotel, more activities await (and are complimentary), from paddleboats to basketball and volleyball courts. And with scheduled ice cream socials and movie nights for the kids, parents will have the opportunity to escape to The Lounge for a drink, live entertainment and alone time after a family meal.

Return to spacious accommodations — some of which sleep up to eight guests — for a restful night’s sleep before sipping coffee on your balcony and enjoying your mountain getaway or family adventure all over again the next day.

Hotel Didn't Live Up to Its Website

by sueheil2018

We were there in the off season. Their website mentioned their two restaurants. Neither one was open. The TV in the room was missing the remote and when we had one brought to us, the TV wasn't even plugged in. Some of the lights in the room were not plugged in either. There was no hotel information book in the room. No washclothes were in the bathroom, but there were were spiders in the bathroom. The parking lot where we were told to parked was closed off with construction materials. The work crew started drilling and pounding nails right outside our window at 7:45 in the morning. Our two night stay very quickly turned into a one night stay.

Family Activities

The Bushkill Inn & Conference Center offers year-round activities for families. From outdoor sports, to local attractions, to onsite swimming and games, activities are always available.

Pools
The resort has two onsite pools -- one inside and one out -- located right next to each other. The indoor pool is open year-round and ranges from 3 to 5 feet in depth. The outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and ranges from 3 to 7 feet in depth. Lifeguards are not on duty, but life jackets are available. Both have lounge chairs around the perimeter and the indoor pool also has a hot tub connected to it. The pools are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the winter and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the summer. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult to swim in the pool.

Outdoor Activities and Sports
Located both on the property and across the street are complimentary activities for every age. A playground shaped like a pirate ship offers little ones slides and swings just outside, across the parking lot. Next to the parking lot are the tennis and basketball courts, and players can pick up balls and racquets at the front desk.

Across the street from the resort is a large grassy area that is home to the sand volleyball court, horseshoes and archery area. And just next to the resort property is a large pond with complimentary paddleboats (weather permitting) and a fishing area. Guests may bring their own poles and bait, but a New Jersey or Pennsylvania license is required.

The Inn is located just four minutes (by foot!) from the popular Bushkill Falls and winter activities are available at nearby Alpine Mountain, where families can ski, snowboard, tube and more.

Indoor Activities
Besides the indoor pool, the resort offers scheduled activities for kids and adults. The room, known as the Rec Center, is home to coin-operated arcade games, foosball and air hockey, with a change machine available, and is also the gathering place for arts and crafts, movie nights, talent competitions and ice cream socials. The Rec Center is located off of the grand lobby on the third floor. Families can pick up a schedule of events at check-in.

More for adults, but open to guests of all ages, the Lounge, also located off of the grand lobby on the third floor, is offers a complimentary billiards table and live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings. The Lounge is open daily at noon.

Campfires and S'mores
Fire pits offer campfire and sing-a-long opportunities, while guests make S'mores. These are located just past the playground, basketball and tennis courts.

Family Dining

The Bushkill Inn & Conference Center offers families two, onsite dining options. The Lounge and The Steakhouse are located off the grand lobby on the third floor.

The Steakhouse
The Steakhouse is open 8 to 10 a.m. daily for breakfast, and 6 to 9 p.m. daily for dinner. It offers guests yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, toast, eggs, bacon, sausage and more for breakfast via a buffet or an a la carte menu. For dinner, expect premium cuts of steak, seafood specialties and seasonal favorites. Salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers and pasta are also available. A kids' menu includes $5 entrees with chicken fingers, mini-burgers, pasta, grilled cheese and one soft drink. Prices range from $6 to $34. Reservations are recommended for dinner (570-431-5200).

The Lounge
The Lounge is open to the public, but it is where guests of the resort will want to spend lunch and dinner. Open from noon to 9 p.m. for lunch and dinner daily, with live entertainment from 7 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, The Lounge offers a friendly atmosphere for everyone. Enjoy sandwiches, burgers, wraps, steak, seafood and pasta entrees. The kids' menu offers $5 entrees, including chicken fingers, mini-burgers, pasta, grilled cheese and one soft drink. And after dining, enjoy a game of complimentary pool at the billiards table. Prices ranges from $6 to $16 for lunch items and from $6 to $34 for dinner items. The Lounge bar is also open late for cocktails.

The Art of Smart Timing
With activities for families year-round, guests can stay at the Bushkill Inn & Conference Center and always have something to do. For winter activities, visit the resort during December, January or February and head to Alpine Mountain or another ski area. Weekends are sure to be busy, so visit and stay on a weekday is possible. For outdoor activities during the summer, like hiking, fishing and water sports, stay during June, July or August. Once again, weekends are sure to be the busiest, so stay during a weekday if possible. Spring and fall offer a colorful environment with flowers and trees blooming or changing into the fall foliage.

Visit during the shoulder months of April and May or September and October for outdoor fun and quiet accommodations, plus cheaper rates.

Getting There
The airport closest to the Bushkill Inn & Conference Center is the Lehigh Valley International Airport, located about 54 miles away. This airport services US Airways, Delta, United and Allegiant. The next closest airport to the hotel is Newark Liberty International Airport (80 minutes by car). A taxi will be expensive for the trip, so book a rental car instead -- both airports offer the major car rental companies, such as Hertz and Enterprise.

If driving from the Mid-Atlantic or New England regions, take one of six interstate highways to get to the resort: I-80, I-81, I-84, I-78, I-380 or I-476. The resort is located about five hours from Boston, four hours from Washington, D.C., two hours from Philadelphia, and one and a half hours from New York City.

Getting Around
The resort's activities and eateries are all located on the property, making it easy to walk from the basketball courts to the pool to The Lounge for lunch. Bushkill Falls is just a four-minute walk from the resort, which makes seeing "The Niagara of Pennsylvania" easy, though surrounding attractions in the Poconos are not as close. A rental car will be helpful for visiting the area.

For Mom and Dad
While the kids are at an ice cream social or movie night, sneak away to the Lobby Bar or Lounge for a cocktail, game of pool or live entertainment. If the kids can watch themselves for an hour or two during the day, head to the spa for a couples' massage. And if none of that is feasible, wait until the little ones are asleep and sip wine on your private balcony while stargazing and looking out over the Pocono Mountains.
