Candy Cane Inn - Anaheim, CA
Location/Upkeep of the Hotel - It is located about as close to Disneyland as you can get, on the corner of the same block that is Disneyland Park and Resort. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and
more +appear well cared for. Rooms are great, comfortable bedding, good bath amenities provided and housekeeping did a wonderful job.
Family Activities - Very nice, warm pool (not cold or luke-warm as most places), with beautiful landscaping around it. Great hot tub in the gazebo area near the pool.
Accommodations - Very clean, comfortable and quiet, with plenty of space in the rooms for all of us. We had three upstairs rooms, each with two queen beds. Two teens in one room, two adults in adjoining room, and three 18-22 years olds in the third room. Bathroom has tub and toilet. Sink and counter/mirror area are located just outside the bathroom. This is very convenient, as there is no need for someone to be rushed out of the bathroom when others need to use the sink or mirror area to wash up, dry hair, shave or put on makeup.
Kid-friendly Dining - Continental breakfast was included in the room price. It included such items as muffins, cereals, toast, fresh fruit, juices, coffee and more. International House of Pancakes and other restaurants within walking distance.
Friendliness of Staff - Very helpful and friendly staff. We really only experienced contact with them on the phone and at check-in, since the rooms had everything we needed and there were no problems. I reserved online and then called to that our three reserved rooms be set-up as one set of adjoining rooms with the third room next door or as close as possible. They were very nice about everything both on the phone and in person.
Best Time to Visit - A weekend in early March is the time that we visited. We avoided the summer crowds.
Family Perks - The adjoining rooms were a very nice option to have. We received a coupon good for a discount on our next stay within one year.
We arrived at 9:15pm. While we were checking in, the teens ran out to the sidewalk in front of the motel and watched the Disney fireworks. Once in the rooms, everyone changed into swimsuits and went in the pool and hot tub. This all made for a very relaxing evening after a long drive. Afterward, we walked next door and got some snacks from the 7-11 store. (The motel even has a microwave in the office area, available for guest use 24 hours a day.) In the morning we just got some food from the continental breakfast and walked down the block to Disneyland. Didn't even have to cross those busy streets, the motel is on the same block and same side of the street. So convenient!
The property is beautifully landscaped and well-maintained. The motel provides free shuttle buses to and from Disneyland, which would be a great option with young kids, elderly people or when you are too tired to walk. We just chose to walk and take pictures of the Disneyland sign out in front.
We had a great experience. If you want a place to stay that is as close to Disneyland as it could be, is clean, safe, well-maintained and comfortable at a very good price, this is it!
