Dog Friendly Motel in Beautiful OBX

by AJWISLER

Yes, it costs a bit more to bring the family dog, but it is worth it. Not only are the rooms nice (we have stayed here twice), but the dog area makes it easy to take your pup out for a walk or to do his business. There are even doggie poop bags and trash cans to toss them in. The back area is fenced in so your dog can run without worry. The pool and outside picnic table are good places to enjoy an evening after dinner. Highly recommend this property!

Rustic but has very dog friendly options

Nice, dog friendly hotel

We had a change in plans and needed to find a dog friendly hotel quickly. We asked the locals where best to go (there were a few options) and all said Cape Pines is the best choice if available. We were able to grab the last pet friendly room on a holiday weekend and have been very happy. As some have said, it is a little dated but so are most of the hotels in the lower outer banks. That said,, it is well maintained, neat, and clean. It has a good sized dog park on the grounds (not appropriate for little dogs that could fit between the fencing or dogs that might be able to jump above the approximately three foot tall gates). For humans, it has a pool and a surprisingly good supermarket with a deli across the road (at least good by local standards). The staff has been friendly and professional. If you are traveling to the Hatteras area with your dog, Cape Pines definitely is well worth considering.
