We went to Puerto Rico for 4 days, and wanted to go hotel hopping and experiment. Out of the 3 hotels, this was our favorite. We have a 2 year old, and this is the perfect hotel, which has its own beach where the waters are calm and shallow and more +they also had gorgeous views of the ocean and old fort-like structures. The pools were also nice, but the baby pool was a little too deep for our taste, around 3 feet and the water was cold. We didn't explore the kids' activities since our son is too small, but they had a club area for older children and a play area on the beach with inflatable air structure to play on. There was also a nice tot playground with incredible views of the ocean.

I would be glad to come back to this hotel again because of the kid-friendliness and its close proximity to Old San Juan, where our baby loved running with the kids with kites on the lands of El Morro.

We also stayed at the Renaissance La Concha resort, but while it's a chic and modern hotel it is geared towards twenty and thirty-something singles. It has a beach area that has very rough and deep waves, and no baby pool. We stayed in a cabana near the pool where the club music was on until 5 am. Luckily, all of us were exhausted that the music didn't bother us.

We also stayed at the Wyndham in Rio Mar near Luquillo, which has a very nice pool area with lots of slides for the children and a nice baby pool, but we didn't get to use it too much as we drove to Luquillo beach, which is very calm and shallow for my tot. Wyndham has its own large private beach, but the waters are very dangerous and rough plus the town, which it is in is very limited in terms of touring or shopping so I wish I had just stayed there for one night instead of 2 nights.

The Hilton Caribe is the best choice of hotels for little ones in terms of the beach area and its proximity to Old San Juan, which is good for eating, exploring, and window shopping. Plus it has a gorgeous open air lobby with talking parrots that children adore and I believe all the rooms have wonderful ocean views.

We were first scheduled to stay at the El San Juan which is supposedly a 4 star hotel. NOT! It is an over-rated run down seedy casino/hotel. We then moved to the Caribe Hilton and were for the most part very happy. It is a beautiful resort, much more +more family friendly, and very clean. It has a private beach and lovely pools. Food was outrageously expensive with very few options close by. The Subway at the end of the street was a lifesaver but that got tiring after a while. There is also mercado (market) close by that had very little to offer but at least we could get a few things for the room for the kids to snack on.

Don't stay in San Juan if you can possibly help it. It is run down and dirty and unfriendly with prostitutes roaming at night. Next time we are headed to the other side of the island.
