Overview

Named for the fictional storybook character who slept for 20 years, this family-owned property in the northern Catskills is open from April through November. Guests can select to stay in a rustic log cabin with a porch and possibly a fireplace, an efficiency, or a motel-style room.
Rooms are clean and simply furnished, and guests rave about the comfortable bedding. The two-bedroom efficiency can accommodate a family of four, and can be rented by the week. All rooms and cabins have air conditioning and heat. Cots and cribs are available at a nominal fee.

The well-manicured grounds include a gazebo, barbecue facilities, an outdoor pool, playground and shuffleboard court. You can fish in the Catskill Creek, which is a short walk using the trails on the property. Other nearby activities include horseback riding, boating, golf, bowling, shopping and a drive-in movie theater.

Quaint, Clean, Attractive Throwback to Time Before Big Chain Hotels

by George F

Needed a place to stay close to Catskill, NY for a group outing. With no chain hotels within miles we settled on Carl's Rip Van Winkle Motor Lodge, after having somebody local check it out. We had five 1-3 bedroom cabins, each with its own bath. They were clean and modern, and close together, with convenient parking. It's a family owned and manged facility, and they treated us like their family. It is 3 minutes off the NYS Thruway and 8 minutes from downtown Catskill.

Unbelievably charming cabin

by Emily H

We SO enjoyed our stay in one of the small one-room log cabins behind the motel! They are immaculately clean and outfitted with charming 1950s decor that takes you back to a simpler time. So lovely and affordable, even in prime season. Each cabin had a porch with Adirondack chairs to relax on. A great place to rest while exploring the region. Highly recommend!
