From the moment we crossed over the bridge from Ft Lyers to Sanibel....we were in love! The island is ssoooo natural.....with trees and wildlife everywhere. The main road (mind you its only a 2 land street) Periwinkle is covered with a canopy of more +trees, you pass kids and famiilies riding scooter, bike, and those 4 person jalopy bicycles as well. There is no McDonalds, no Burger King....and all of the stores are situated off of the main road, where you can barely see them. You can get along the entire island on bike, and all on a safe walking bike path. Casa Ybel is right out of the old victorian beach era. Our room was gorgeous! We looked directly out over the guld, and had stairs leading right out to the beach and pool...PERFECT for our kids! Olympic size swimming pool with tiki bar...kiddle pool. Very family oriented!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

The location of Casa Ybel Resort on Sanibel couldn't be better. You are steps from the seashell-laden beaches of the beautiful island. Onsite, they boast the most romantic restaurant (get a sitter from the concierge) and the menu is award-winning. more +It's called The Thistle Lodge and it's worth every penny. They have an Olympic size pool along with a shallow kiddie pool area. Toys are provided at the beach shack for free. Return them when you're done. There's a poolside bar and grill called Coconuts that serves kids meals in a frisbee, that was a big hit. Their kids program is only for 3 hours a day, for $45 per child, but it's fun for them and a nice break for moms and dads. Nearby you'll find all kinds of shopping (stop at the wine & cheese shop in Periwinkle Place for frozen chocolate dipped key lime pie on a stick). There's also a day spa in this center.

Casa Ybel has spacious units that offer multiple bedrooms, full kitchens, living and dining areas, and some are two-story. The views from the screened in porches are amazing. You can even see dolphins playing in the waves! You can rent beach chairs and cabanas, have spa treatments in your suite, and relax to the sound of the waves.

My family loves Casa Ybel. I would recommend it highly for families who want more than a hotel room. It's like home away from home.
