Castaway Bay is the perfect getaway when trying to hang on before Spring/Summer. They have plenty of children's activities--bedtime stories, games, crafts, dances, meet/greet and even Karokee with the Peanuts gang. Karokee was alot of fun, the kids more +could sing anything from Row Your Boat to current songs if they could read the promptor. The water park was GREAT and attentive lifeguards everywhere!

We took our two kids, ages 1 and 10, to Castaway Bay Resort in Sandusky, OH. The location is great, right next to Cedar Point. We stayed while Cedar Point was closed for the winter, but this would be a great place to stay while at the park.

We arrived about an hour ahead of our check-in time and our room was ready for us, which was great with a baby. The room was well-kept and clean, with plenty of room for the 4 of us. We went down to the water park right away. The air temperature inside the water area was great but the water was a little cold. Advertised as "always 82 degrees" the water was much cooler than I had expected. Most of the park is not suitable for a baby/toddler, so I just carried him around. We tried to take him in the baby pool but it was too chilly to stay in very long. My older son loved the wave pool. He is a special needs child (blind and developmentally delayed) so he can't go off and do things on his own.

A big disappointment was than nothing was handicap accessible. This was our first visit to a water park, so I don't know if that is normal or not, but it was disappointing that he couldn't do a lot of the things. The hotel had a lot of activities for children while we were there (Snoopy and hot chocolate at bedtime for example) but they were understaffed and very crowded. Mango Mike's was a nice restaurant for breakfast with their buffet, although a bit overpriced. They were running a special deal for the weekend, which made it worth the price, but I don't know if I would pay full price to go back, especially until my younger son is older and able to enjoy more.
