Beware of rogue spa charges.

by Thatagestyle

My friend and I stayed at the Celtic Manor on a Sunday Spa rollover offer. This included a 3 course meal, overnight stay, breakfast, 1 spa treatment each and use of the spa. We had to pay extra as apparently there were no twin rooms left so we paid for a deluxe king room with balcony. The room was clean but smelt musty and was pretty uninspiring. The balcony had no seating and a view of the road.
The 3 course meal was in the Olive Tree restaurant which is a buffet only. The food was barely warm and we had to go hunting for soup spoons!
The worst part of the stay was that despite confirming with the spa that we were staying on a package, 2 days later they had taken £94 from my account, without my authorisation. And this charge was the 2 prepaid treatments. It took nearly a week of chasing to get this refunded.
We also had to pay £15 to use the car park.

Needless to say I won’t be returning to this bland, overpriced “resort”.

Brilliant from the minute we arrived, valet parking. Luggage taken up to our room. Which was on the 10th floor fantastic view. Robes and slippers in room to use when going to the health club. Swimming pool and jacuzzi fantastic. We had the buffet meal in the olive restaurant, great selection as it was for breakfast in the morning. And decent coffee. The mulberry bar is a bit quieter, great selection of gins and fabulous interior design in there. The only downside was it was a little bit cold in the lobby
