Each year I attend a professional meeting at the Chapparral Suites in Scottsdale. My family hangs by the pool while I suffer through endless talking. Then, at 3pm, I get to join them! This is truly a lovely hotel. Each room is a suite with the more +bathroom in between your room and where the children sleep, on a pullout couch. The pool is kept up very nicely, and the kids really enjoyed swimming in it all day. The onsite restaurant is OK but I prefer to make the short drive into town and have a meal at any number of places nearby. There is also a HUGE shopping mall nearby. Really, everything is in walking distance but I wouldn't recommend walking anywhere in Scottsdale. For a Northern Californian like myself, the heat is simply oppressive. There is not much "extra" things at the hotel for kids to do other than the pool, so if your looking for activities, you will need to plan an excursion. The Phoenix zoo isn't that far and was rated one of the nation's top 5 zoos for kids. The final touch, for me, the reason I love returning each year, is the "Manager's Special" 5-7pm free bar drinks, every day. It is so nice to enjoy an adult beverage while relaxing by the pool. The staff is helpful and the room was always kept clean. Enjoy!

Our family has made several return visits to this local destination. Chapparal Suites is definitely family-friendly and easy on the budget!

The suites were surprisingly spacious and with a very large separate master bedroom, even mom more +& dad get a bit of privacy. The kids loved the live steel drum musicians playing poolside during "happy hour" (not to mention the free movie theater popcorn and "Shirley Temples" from the bar - and mom & dad loved the free cocktails!) With two pools to play in, the kids were never bored all weekend!

Plenty of sleeping accommodations with two queen beds and a sofa sleeper. Two televisions in the room meant no one was fighing over what to watch, and the kids could order games in the room or movies.

The kitchenette allowed us to bring in fresh fruit and beverages that we could keep chilled in the fridge and a place to store our leftovers from all the delicious dining choices in Scottsdale!

The central location is close to great shopping, including the Scottsdale Fashion Square and the downtown Main Street area with its boutiques and art galleries, not to mention fabulous restaurants from pizza to sushi, brazilian and fondue!

The Suites also offers a free, full, made-to-order breakfast for the family and our kids LOVED being able to choose eggs or waffles or bacon and the selection of juices and breakfast cereals or bagels - the list goes on! Suffice to say, we pretty much skipped lunch everyday because the breakfast was incredibly satisfying (and not breaking for lunch just meant more splash & tan time!)

Despite the higher temperatures during an Arizona summer, consider coming to the Suites during the "off-peak season" for their amazing summer specials. Between the pools, beverages and icy cold air conditioning (and the amazing tan you'll leave with), it'll be worth the heat! Our family loves it and is already planning our next visit to Chapparal Suites!
