Cincinnati is Ohio's third largest city, attracting many visitors from Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia and other parts of the state, such as Dayton and Columbus. The downtown area is the epicenter for dozens of family-friendly attractions, which heavily focus on the arts -- ballet, modern art and opera, to name a few.

One of the most popular areas is The Banks, located along the waterfront and one of several entertainment districts where visitors and locals go for food, music, shopping, entertainment and sports. A 5- to 10-minute walk from downtown hotels, families can find several things to do there. You'll find the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, for an educational look back in time; Paul Brown Stadium, where the Cincinnati Bengals play; the Great American Ball Park, where you can catch a fly ball from the Reds; and Smale Riverfront Park, where you can partake in riverside recreational activities.

While in town, be sure to traverse across any one of the city's walkable bridges, such as the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge and the Purple People Bridge, the latter of which is a pedestrian-only bridge. These bridges provide picturesque views of the Ohio River and easy access to Northern Kentucky's riverside entertainment area, Newport on the Levee. There, you'll find the popular Newport Aquarium and Ride the Ducks, plus a movie theater, bowling alley, restaurants, kiosks and other family-friendly activities.

Perhaps most notable to the area, however, is King's Island, just outside of Cincinnati, where famous roller coasters, such as the Beast and the Diamondback, are a must-do for families. At Coney Island Amusement Park, families find the world's largest flat-surfaced recirculating pool.
