Getting There
Club Med, located at one end of Cancun's Hotel Zone, is a short drive from Cancun's airport, serviced by many carriers including American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United and US Airways.
Typically, Club Med is the first stop for airport vans carrying guests to Hotel Zone properties. Before arriving in Cancun, however, book a transfer package. If you haven't, then buy transfers from one of the many tourism related vendors who try to corral you as you walk from the airport's baggage claim to the street. Once on the street without a voucher, you can fall prey to some greedy taxi owners.
It happened to us when our ride didn't show up. Exhausted from an early morning flight, we didn't have the energy to go back into the building to purchase vouchers. We just wanted to get to the resort and a cab looked like the best option. Our cabbie, however, got lost on some questionable side roads and charged us twice as much as he should have.
All About the Extras
The Mini-Club as well as the teen programs take kids to lunch and dinner and feature evening activities. This gives parents time to reconnect over a cocktail at Las Chispa while watching the sunset and continue the evening with an adult dinner.
The Art of Smart Timing
High season includes holiday periods such as Christmas, New Year's, President's Week, Easter and Passover, and August. Shoulder and low season covers May to July and September to October.
For Mom and Dad
For pampering, try a facial or a massage (extra fee) at the Comfort Zone, Club Med's spa. In addition, Club Med's roster of activities engages parents. Keep up with your kids/teens by flying on the trapeze at Circus as well as perfecting your tennis and waterskiing.
Each evening La Soluna, a bar located in the heart of the resort, has music and hors d'euvres. It's a nice prelude to dinner.
