Anniversary Getaway

by Wolfe-Diane

We chose Comfort Suites Fernandina Beach due to its proximity to the beach and Historic Area. We were extremely happy with the hotel overall. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Everyone working there was very pleasant and welcoming. Especially Elizabeth at the front desk. She helped make our time here fantastic! She was extremely helpful with all hotel inquiries and requests, as well as very knowledgeable giving recommendations around town. Elizabeth was the sole reason the wife immediately booked another stay for a girlfriend’s getaway.

Good choice for beach-goers and close to historic downtown

by Barbara Y

As frequent guests among the Choice Hotels chain, we opted for this property although our interest was more in the downtown area than beach side. All was as expected for a Comfort Suites property including helpful, friendly desk-clerks a comfortable bed and the usual room amenities. But we experienced a couple of minor glitches. Our third-floor room had a balky door that we couldn't initially open upon checking in. A trip back downstairs to the front desk clerk who accompanied me back upstairs to address the problem. Apparently the door to this room is known to be difficult to open and she showed us a specific maneuver which opened the door. Seemed to us that since this door has a "reputation" for being hard to open that they just get it fixed. We also noted that there seemed to be a restrictive governor on the room's A/C-heating unit. We were unable to make the temperature warmer than 78 degrees which was adequate for us on a not-too-chilly night but had our stay been later in the winter months, we would not have felt warm enough and there was no additional blanket for the bed. This is the second time we have encountered a restriction on a cooling/heating unit in hotel properties and we simply don't like it. We've paid for the room and want it to be made as warm or cool as we, not hotel management, prefer it to be. Otherwise, an uneventfully pleasant stay and we would consider a return visit.
