Overview

Whether you decide to stay in one of the motel rooms or the full cottages, the Crown Colony Motel & Cottages will greet you with plenty of green space and a killer ocean view. So settle in and prepare to explore your fantastic room. Close enough that you could even send older kids to explore on their own is a rocky beach filled with small pools to hunt for critters and shells. So while they explore you can kick back on the cottage patio and just take in the beautiful ocean view.

Next, take the entire family to hike through the nearby Odiorne State Park or even go on a whale watching adventure. If some folks are looking for more refined shopping and dining, look no further than downtown Portsmouth. Only a 15-minute drive away, the town will treat you to historic sightseeing, as well as fantastic dining at local favorites such as Surf seafood. Then get back to the hotel early so you can be up the next morning for a front-row seat to a breathtaking ocean sunrise with the whole family.

Crown Colony Motel & Cottages is sure to satisfy all the needs of any family looking to have a vacation to remember for years to come.

For the money we'd expect to be on the beach

All of these items are fact based not opinion. The ocean view is great but it is 1/3 of mile walk to closest beach (see my image) and at high tide there is little of any sand (search Google "DES warns of disappearance of Rye’s beaches") without walking all the way down Rt1A to ether the Surf Club Beach area @.6 miles (at some high tides you need to walk in water to get there if not on street, waves will be hitting the rocks in front of private homes) or Wallis Sands State Beach @1.7miles (see other image posted). The units are right on Rt1A and they have a gravel parking lot. There is one choice for food within walking distance and that restaurant, Petey's always seems to have a 1.5 hour wait (see my previous reviews, I did one for Petey's in 2015 and mentioned the wait time, nothing has changed there).
