We stayed 4 nights at the Cypress Point Resort in Orlando FL the week of Sept. 20, 2009. The rooms we were given were very nice. We were given basically 2 units (one was a lock out unit which was attached). The rooms were decorated nicely but more +could use some updates. The beds were very comfortable. Units were not what I would consider "clean" to my liking but livable. There was no elevator but luckily we were only on the second floor.

The volcano pool was closed the first day we arrived as someone had gotten sick in it. We were allowed to use it the second day there. There was one water slide but adults were not allowed to use it. The volcano pool was supposed to have water streaming down it but this never happened as they said it was being painted but we never did see anyone painting it. There was two other pools on the property but not much to do at the other pools.

There were not many children's activities at this 'resort';. They advertised them but we never were able to find them. They did have a nice shuffle board court and tennis courts.

The staff at the front desk were not at all helpful. They acted like they could not be bothered with customer service. A number of times the staff were in the side chatting it up together while others were waiting at the desk for assistance. We asked for ideas on where to eat and they sent us to the Concierge area. When we asked them they tried to "hard sell" us on their properties. All we wanted was the name of a good restaurant.

We did a nice snorkeling trip in Tampa to Egmont Key. I would highly recommend this. My son is 10 and he had a blast. It was through captainsnow.com We were able to snorkel, collect shells and view an old Spanish fort. We were on the trip for about 4 hours. Very reasonably priced.

We also enjoyed going to Downtown Disney.

After our 4 days in Orlando we headed to Cocoa Beach area to catch our cruise to the Bahamas. We went on the Carnival Sensation which was not a 'sensation' in our eyes. We did not have a very nice experience on this, our first cruise. The food was not very good. There was only one pool on the whole boat for 2500 people. They did have waterslides on the upper deck which were very nice. They had the "formal night" the one day we were in the Bahamas so we had to rush back to the boat to get ready for dinner and were not able to do any shopping while we were in port. The whole time on board we felt like we were running a race but getting no where. I don't think we will be trying the Carnival cruise line again. My son did not enjoy the children's activities (which was the only reason we chose Carnival to begin with -- for the chidren's program).

After the cruise we stayed one last night in Cocoa Beach, FL which is one of our favorite towns. We ate at the Florida Seafood Restaurant (terrific restaurant) which we loved. We stayed at the Marriott (Fairfield Inn) there. It was very nice. We went to the beach and rented a body board from The Beach Co. (next to Ron Jon's Surf Shop). Had a great time!
