This is not our first holiday in Toronto at the Delta Chelsea, but we have been away for 3 years and there has been a decline in "presentation" (or organization)....I'm not sure which....but I would say there needs to be management changes more +to resolve the downward trend. We were disappointed that due to the "busy-ness" of March break, all pool activities were limited and included standing in line and registering in the morning, and all heck would break out if your time slot was overbooked! Then, trying to race back to your pool time was equally upsetting in downtown traffic. Deals such as $25 food vouchers weren't honoured if you booked online despite mass advertising, and the deals that you WERE entitled to -such as half price meals under age 9- were also not honoured....although I guess if I had made a stink about it perhaps that would have been corrected. I certainly got a different meal one day than I ordered and it was advised to me THAT is what I ordered with a snuff of a nose and a walk away....so, that ended eating at the hotel. With Mr. GreenJeans down the street and several other cultural diverse eateries, attitude isn't needed. I couldn't recall 70's decor until this stay - the gold embossed ripped paper, the dirty ceiling vents and the desktop tv with *gasp* a point and shoot hand held channel changer. I was looking for the big dial on the box to change. The attempt to squish in a chair in the corner was clearly an after thought. The balcony is visible through locked doors, but you can hear the construction. And the cracked and stained washroom which barely left room for you to close the door was just icing on the cake. It did appear clean, however, upon entry, the big lumpy bedclothes made me initially think someone was still in the room. AND, in thumbing through a magazine I found a door key which still opened the door from the person before me - which means THEY DON'T REASSIGN KEY CODES AND JUST HAND OUT THE SAME CARD TO THE NEXT ROOM RENTER! The front desk was prompt to correct this, and they were appologetic over several interactions I had with them and always polite. But I felt they were merely cast in role and almost submissive, which makes me feel that management is oppressive and not very forward thinking. 3 years ago we stayed in a room with a king bed, no balcony, but with a seating area with a couch and the bathroom was double sized and it was much more up-to-date with better lighting and I felt much more comfortable then. Also, the playroom is a nice treat, but the computers have been taken out but for 1 wii game and many of the play toys just look tired and as if they aren,t well kept. It's time for an overhaul and update of the kids' room.
