The Dessert Pearl Inn, located in Springdale, Utah was the highlight of my family's very long road trip this Summer! Our destination was officially Zion National Park. Thanks to Trip Advisor, I made reservations in advance at this Oasis of a more +hotel.

We were very tired after a full day of travel and were thrilled when we pulled up to this serene, flower filled garden of a place. This hotel sits at the end of a road of hotels, shops, restaurants and has a shuttle that runs all day and into the evening into Zion National Park.

We instantly relaxed when we stepped onto the property. The pool was within view and very inviting. The landscaping was amazingly lush for Summer in the dessert. Gorgeous pink blooms all around.

Upon arrival I was upset that the top level floor I requested was not available, but trusted that all would work out. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door to our room. The reviews I read online all recommended a top level room (there are only two floors) but for our family the bottom level couldn't have been more perfect. The ground level room we had faced the river. The patio was a gorgeous slate with two adirondack type chairs and a table. This opened up to a grass area and a few steps away there were rocks, sand, and the river, not to mention an amazing view of the Rocks.

My son woke up every morning and chased frogs, dragonflies, tadpoles. My husband and I enjoyed morning coffee and then had a lovely yoga practice facing the river. We spent many hours on this patio. Some children a few rooms down from us hung a rope swing in front of their room, my son joined them for evening "swinging". Great picture taking moments!

The room itself was wonderful. Very clean, new open floor plan and had the MOST AMAZING sheets I have ever slept on! We had a mini kitchen that was perfect for sandwiches and kid snacks. No stove, but fridge and microwave and full utensils. My son enjoyed experiencing the bidet in the bathroom!

We spent many days going into Zion National Park. We took the shuttle most mornings and one evening. Because this hotel is at the end of the Hotel area, the ride to the Park only took a few minutes, hardly any stops. The pool at the Dessert Pearl was such an amazing way to start and end the day. The views from the pool were stunning. There is also a great hot tub for soaking after a day of hiking. We didn't get in our car the entire 4 days. We walked to restaurants easily from this hotel. My son enjoyed the shops. He loved seeing arrowheads, crystals, rocks.... and of course the ice cream shops were a hit! We loved the local coffee shop and really liked a pasta/pizza place across and down a bit from the Dessert Pearl. Also, there is a great Mexican restaurant nearby. Heading from the Dessert Pearl towards Zion, the restaurant is on the right side of the road. You cannot miss it, it is an old gas station! They have a nice patio and yummy vegetarian options!

One recommendation is to grocery shop before arrival in Springdale. There are only two grocery stores and we found them to be very overpriced.

We are looking forward to returning to the Oasis of the Dessert Pearl someday soon!

This was our first visit to Zion National Park, and we chose this hotel because it was referred by Family Vacations...and let me just say WOW!

The location of the hotel, with the majestic mountain views serving as a more +back-drop...AMAZING!. And, although we requested the 2nd floor with a river view, (but didn't get it because someone did not enter our request in the computer), we were ecstatic with what we got.

The room was nicely decorated... Flat screen TV, VCR/DVD combo, toaster oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator(not the best working), great bedding on a very comfortable king bed with plenty of blankets and pillows for the pullout(where our two boys slept perfectly well) and had great unobstructed view of the grassy area (where we proper up our tripod and telescope for stargazing) just passed our semi-private terrace, with the river literally steps from our room, perfect for the kids to explore and play within view. The hotel also had a wonderful pool and jacuzzi 3, 4 and 5 feet perfect for the kids and great size for play. There's also a shuttle stop just in front of the hotel that takes you into the park, and another that takes you on a scenic tram drive with many stops for hiking and exploring, all for FREE. Altogether a fantastic experience and by far the best hotel in Springdale, we looked around for future stays and will be back to the DESERT PEARL INN very soon and often.

Full disclosure:
1-Our request for a 2nd floor room was denied despite the fact that they made the mistake, and we reserved the room 3 months prior, but it worked out for the best. (I would recommend the 1st floor for those with kids, the access to the river is awesome and fun!)
2- The staff in the hotel is hit or miss, we either got very helpful (most), or VERY rude (a condescending lady called B.J.)
3-The refrigerator was lukewarm and only got cold by the second day we were there so take cold drinks with you and turn it up to max cold as soon as you get there.
4- Not the best shower pressure.
5- Because of the grass and proximity to the river, take mosquito coils/repellent for the patio, and bugs spray if you have the insect attracting skin like myself. (Don't get me wrong, its not the Amazon, but better safe than miserably bitten).
