Grand Floridian's guest rooms are located in the main building as well as five surrounding ones and all accessed through interior corridors. First floor rooms offer patios and most second through fifth floor rooms offer balconies with a few exceptions.
The 448 square-foot standard rooms are the most spacious standard rooms of the Disney World resorts. Many offer two queen-beds (or a king), a daybed, dresser with flat-screen TV above it, desk with a table that pulls out from beneath it (to accommodate room service trays), and a comfortable chair with ottoman. Note: 5th floor rooms do not have daybeds due to the dormers in the roof, however many have vaulted ceilings. Guests can request a DVD for use in their room and select a movie from the resort's library, all at no additional charge, and arranged through the front desk.
In addition, each room has a small refrigerator, iron, ironing board, room safe, hair dryer, and coffee maker. Families can request bottle warmers, potty seats, cribs, Pack n' Plays and bedrails at no extra charge. Rollaway beds are also available, gratis.
Bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soaps, and a good hair dryer (not the mini wall-attached units). Toothpaste and toothbrushes are also available upon request.
Self-service coin-operated laundry facilities are located in all buildings except Sugarloaf Key. (Guests in Sugarloaf can use the laundry facilities in the adjacent Conch Key building.)
NOTE: All rooms are nonsmoking. Designated smoking areas can be found on some of the outdoor porches.
While most of the rooms are identical, the views are not, hence the Grand Floridian's room pricing is based on the following:
Garden View: The majority of these rooms have a view of the well-manicured courtyards and the pool, and a few have a view of the marina.
Lagoon View: These rooms look out over Seven Seas Lagoon
Magic Kingdom View: Some of these rooms look out towards Space Mountain, while others look toward Cinderella's castle.
Lodge Tower rooms are located in turreted midsections of many of the buildings, each offering a different view. These rooms are similar to a standard room however they have a roomy sitting area inside and no balcony.
Once you've selected a room category from above, a building preference can also be noted, although not guaranteed, when you make your reservation. If you've booked a Magic Kingdom View room, note a preference for one overlooking Cinderella's Castle to see the nightly fireworks.
For easy access to restaurants and shops request a room in the main building or Sugarloaf Key building. The Big Pine Key building is close to both pools.
Concierge Club Rooms
These rooms are located in the main building and in Sugarloaf Key since each of these buildings has a concierge lounge. These rooms are similar in decor to the resort's standard rooms, however, they have added perks such as a flat screen TV with a DVD player, personal escort for in-room check-in and a concierge staff member that provides pre-arrival itinerary planning and makes reservations for things like character breakfasts, golf times, horseback riding, spa treatments, and more.
Access to the Concierge Club lounges is also included where you'll find flat-screen TVs (one with continuous kids' programming) and relaxing sitting areas overlooking the resort grounds. A Continental breakfast is served in the morning (with a limited selection) as well as afternoon snacks. Desserts (cupcakes, cookies, and brownies), wine, beer, and after dinner drinks are served in the evening.
Suites
The Grand Floridian's 25 suites (which accommodate between two and eight people) come in all shapes and sizes and range from a 633-square-ft. one-bedroom suite (with two queen beds and a queen-sized sleeper sofa) to the 2,200-square-ft. Grand Suite that has five balconies, vaulted ceilings, a hardwood-floor foyer, piano, plus two bedrooms, each with its own bath. The unique 1,690-square-ft. Walt Disney Suite is filled with memorabilia including a railroad model and family pictures. All suites include fresh floral arrangements and an expanded line of toiletries that include a mint foot lotion.
