We decided to celebrate my daughters 8 year old birthday at Tampa FL, and what a GREAT surprise was the Don Cesar Lowes Hotel. I was born in Mexico, so I am used to the nice, warm beaches like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Ixtapa, Acapulco, but this more +BEACH is great as well, I couldn't believe it, it was warm and also with a nice blue light color and white sand as well !!!

Great vacation 2 days at the beach and one full day of adventure at Busch Gardens with my two kids (8 and 4 years old) and hubby. Great Local sea food restaurants in a walking distance from the hotel and the sunsets where something else !!!

It was really worth it !!!!

"The Don" surpassed all expectations! We first discovered the hotel on the Travel Channel and decided to give it a try.

We were first struck by the cozy size and the casual elegance of the decor. This Loews property is more +also very pet friendly, so we were pretty sure that our well mannered six year old wouldn't be TOO disruptive! She made quick friends with our bellman and the doorman (both of whom continued to call her by name throughout the entire week.) The personal attention made us feel right at home. It is a cozy place where you can do as much or as little as you wish. The pool attendants and the servers at the ice cream parlour also called us by name throughout the week!

We spent one day off property at Downtown Disney and another at Busch Gardens, but we were content to spend the majority of our time on the beach or by one of the two pools. The pools are not high tech by any means, and there are no water slides, but they were perfect for what we wanted--a quiet place to relax and splash and snack. One of the pools was three feet deep from one end to the other, which meant that younger kids could cover the entire area without avoiding a "deep end". In fact, our daughter mustered the courage to learn to swim underwater that week because she knew she could ALWAYS stand up!

While our daughter did not formally participate in the children's program, she was invited to join in the pool games with them whenever we were in the same pool during their swim time. She also had a FANTASTIC one-on-one art lesson with a local art teacher who visited the property. We still cannot believe the quality of her first painting, and that afternoon is one of her favorite memories of the entire trip. It was worth much more than the very reasonable fee.

The food was a highlight. The Sea Porch Cafe, their casual dining room, has both indoor and outdoor seating. We ate there several times and had wonderful creative dishes. Because of the extensive menu, we made a point to try different dishes each time, but we would have gladly ordered some of our new "old favorites" time and again. The seafood was fresh and creatively presented without being so "unusual" that our daughter wouldn't try a taste from our plates. The desserts were also out of this world (and we DID repeat those!). I am so glad that we did splurge for dinner at The Maritana Grille one night. (Be sure and request a table by one of the fish tanks at the time you make your reservation.) Our daughter visited the tanks through the windows several times each day, and she was happy to have a "dress up dinner" with her fish friends. This was a meal worth making a special trip to the resort. We also did the Sunday Brunch (truly spectacular and much more kid friendly than Sunday Brunch at other similar quality resorts.)

World Class service that was not stuffy in the least, fantastic food, and a cozy intimate atmosphere made for one of our favorite vacations of all time! We WILL be back!!!
