Overview

Surrounded on two sides by the lushness of one of Tulsa’s great city parks, the DoubleTree at Warren Place is in an ideal location for those visiting many of Tulsa’s attractions or attending special events at the Expo Center or Mabee Center. However, the abundant tree canopy and numerous flowering bushes on the grounds and the park on either side give the property a softer edge that is often found at great resort hotels.

Located on the southwest side of the city with easy access to Interstate 44, the DoubleTree is just across Yale Avenue from St. Francis Hospital. And there’s a reason for that. One of the hospital’s largest benefactors was William K. Warren of the Warren Petroleum Corporation. Warren Place, where the DoubleTree is located, is the business center where the Warren Foundation does its business.

The DoubleTree appeals to business travelers as much as it does the family vacationer. A sizable indoor pool and access to the pools and other amenities at the adjacent LaFortune Park provide plenty of opportunities for family fun within steps outside the back door. Access to the park is particularly nice if you’re traveling with your family pet. Yes, this DoubleTree is pet-friendly.

The best part of your stay at this and any DoubleTree is the warm chocolate chip cookies that each guest receives at check-in. And for a special souvenir, ask about purchasing a tin of those great cookies for your journey home.

Room Information

Find the Best Price for Your Stay

The nine floors and 370 rooms of this DoubleTree are configured in a broad U-shape over a lovely tree-lined entrance to Warren Place. Because the hotel is set back from the business of Yale Street, little traffic noise reaches the rooms and enjoying some fresh air on the few Juliette balconies on each floor is an extra treat to a night at this hotel.

Of the 370 rooms, about 62 are adjoining, and although the staff does not guarantee adjoining rooms, they do their best to make it happen for you. For little ones traveling with you, not only are cribs provided at no charge, but you may also ask for a playpen and highchair at no charge. For rollaways, be prepared to pay an additional $15 per night.

All bathrooms, with the exception of the ADA rooms, have shower-tub combos. Small mini-refrigerators and microwaves are provided in each room. This hotel no longer offers DVD players in each room, but children's movies are available for a fee on the hotel movie channels as well as video game.

Deluxe Guest Rooms
In all guestrooms, you have a choice of a king bed or two queens. And remember -- these are the Sweet Dreams® beds that Hilton properties are known for. Deluxe guestrooms are equipped with a 37-inch flat screen.

Executive Guest Rooms
These rooms, identical to deluxe guest rooms, are located on the ninth floor, which is the concierge level. In addition to a concierge lounge and service, a complimentary hot breakfast is served each morning. You have a choice of a king bed or two queens.

Suites
This DoubleTree has 13 two-room suites that either have two bedrooms or a bed and fold-out sofa in another room. Each of the two rooms has a flat screen TV - one 37-inch and one at 42 inches.

Reviews

Disaapointing

by ChristyC0715

Not sure why there are such great reviews for this hotel. Our room was outdated, stayed hot the entire time, and the fridge was just on the floor and had braces from where it looked like it was connected to a counter at one point. The shower was dirty and the vent in the shower needed to be cleaned. There was also a hole in the ceiling above the lobby elevator. They also need to clean the light fixture by the lobby elevator as well.

Comfortable but a little noisy

by rallen12019

I was on the 6th floor so hoped the noice would have been lessened but was mistaken. I was on the side if the hotel that faces the ER entrance for a hospital across the road, so I heard ambulances and helicopters all night. Other than that it was a great stay. The bed was comfortable and had everything I needed in the room. Paid a bit extra for a fridge, but I feel it is worth it and they do not charge an exorbitant amount.

Family Activities

Pool
The lower level swimming pool, with its marked swim lanes, is a busy place when the hotel fills with family travelers. A spacious deck area under a skylight allows parents plenty of room for reading or other activities while children play. Enter the pool via steps and enjoy swimming in depths from 3 to 5.5 feet. A handicap lift is available for the pool and the nearby hot tub. The pool area is outfitted with a number of lounge chairs and bistro tables that can be rearranged on an outdoor deck in warm weather when the sliding doors open to give the feel that this is an outdoor pool.

LaFortune Park
The DoubleTree at Warren Place is blessed to be surrounded on two sides by the 270-acress of LaFortune Park. It includes several playgrounds and an outdoor pool, along with fishing and golf. The front desk will help make arrangements for a tee time if golf factors into your family plans. Consider LaFortune your backyard playground, as most of those who work at the DoubleTree do.

Games
For some quiet family time in your room at the end of a long day, ask about the board games kept at the front desk. Monopoly, Candyland, Hungry Hippo and Operation are among the favorites found here.

Family Dining

Starbucks
Located in the hotel lobby, this Starbucks serves more than just coffee and tea. A selection of juices, pastries and fruit make this an inexpensive option for a quick breakfast for the whole family.

Warren Duck Club
This is Oklahoma, so many of the entrees in this first-floor restaurant feature local cuts of steak and home-style fried chicken. But a number of salads and sandwiches and pasta are equally pleasing. The kids' menu, which is printed on a coloring book page, includes mac and cheese, PB&J and chicken fingers, among others. Fruit is one of several side options for children. It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and provides in-room dining. Highchairs and booster seats are available to keep your kids safe and comfy during your meal.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.

Fitness Center
The small fitness center is outfitted with Precor Fitness equipment, including three treadmills, two recumbent bicycles and two elliptical machines. A nice selection of free weights is also available. Children under 18 must have an adult with them when working out. Just outside the door of the fitness center and pool is access to a 3.5-mile paved and lit walking/jogging path through LaFortune Park just behind the hotel.

Gift Shop
The spacious gift shop in the hotel lobby is a must stop for moms looking for additions to their wardrobe. The shop offers a stylish collection of tops, dresses and accessories that you probably won't find at home. And the prices are quite reasonable for a hotel gift shop. Of course, the collection includes cowboy hats and T-shirts for the kids, along with your typical selection of souvenirs and sundry items needed for the traveling family.

The Art of Smart Timing
Tulsa is a year-round destination, thus this hotel, which appeals to business travelers as well as family vacationers, is open all year through. You'll appreciate the individual climate controls in each room in the steamy hot summer months as much you do in the winter when it can get a bit nippy in Oklahoma.

Getting There
Tulsa International Airport (TUL) is on the northeast side of the metropolitan area and just about 15 minutes from the hotel, which is right across the street from St. Francis Hospital.

Note: If you approach the hotel from the north on Yale Avenue, the entrance is difficult to see because of a slight rise in the street and signage that is limited by the city. Either drive slowly as you pass through the stoplight with 61st Street or plan on turning around in any convenient spot along Yale Avenue.

Getting Around
The DoubleTree offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport and to destinations within 2 or 3 miles of the hotel. If you intend to explore Tulsa beyond this radius -- and you really should -- you will be best served by renting a private automobile.

Parking is complimentary in a covered garage adjacent to the hotel.

For Mom and Dad
The Lobby Lounge, which is not at all near the lobby, is a lovely gathering spot outside of the Warren Duck Club. With several little intimate seating arrangements, a relaxing blue glass bar back and nightly drink specials, this is just the place for mom and dad to unwind after a busy day with the kids.
