If you are planning to bring the family to go sightseeing in Washington D.C. then this is definitely a hotel worthy of your consideration. My kids are 7 and 9 years old and the point of our vacation was to go and view the typical tourist more +attractions that Washington has to offer. So my key priorities here were "transportation" and "food". This hotel solved both of those problems SUPERBLY.

Let me start with transportation. We drove from New Jersey to DC and when we arrived was able to park my car in the parking garage underneath the hotel (daily parking fee applied - think maybe $18 a day although I don't remember now off the top of my head). But my car stayed there the entire time because I never needed to drive anywhere once I checked into the hotel. It was SOOOOO easy to get to and from DC from this hotel as it is located RIGHT ON TOP of a metro subway stop. As my friends in college used to say ... "that's so clutch!" Just a few minutes walk from leaving our room WITHOUT needing to go outside and we're at the metro station. How awesome is that. Then 15 minutes or so on the train and we're in DC. It was harder to figure out how to buy the metro tickets. The convenience lies in the fact that it's located inside a mall which brings me to my next point.

Since it's in a mall the food options are pretty easy. Cheesecake Factory and Maggiano's were our 2 favorites for the few days we were there. Cheesecake you can literally walk to through the mall without walking outside. I could see the Cheesecake entrance from our hotel room door. Maggiano's you can get to with a few minutes walk around the building outside ... all easy walking distance for our 7 and 9 year old. There are a few other restaurants within walking distance of the hotel as well although we didn't get a chance to go to them. Too much sightseeing in DC!

As for our rooms they were big from what I'm accustomed to staying at. Nice kitchen area as well as good space for a family of 4 and those with 7 and 9 year olds know exactly how much "room" they tend to take. We never felt cramped and the rooms were clean and what you should expect from a hotel.

The staff was extremely helpful with our sightseeing questions too. The kicker was we had to leave a couple days early because of Hurricane Irene and the hotel reimbursed us for those days as well. Next time in DC we'll definitely be staying at this hotel because of it's convenience for sightseeing Washington DC.
