I Would Stay Here Again

by sswann2018

I stayed here because the conference I was attending was held here. The free shuttle from the airport was timely, I didn't have to wait very long after picking up my bag for the shuttle to arrive. The check in process was smooth and easy. The clerk behind the counter was very friendly. When I got to my room, it was roomy, clean, and smelled nice (I travel enough to know that is not the case sometimes). After a little while I received a text from one of the hospitality people checking to see if everything was okay thus far. I replied to let them know all was, in fact, well. Then I ran out of facial tissue, I just grabbed my phone and asked how I might get another box. Then I stepped out for one of the sessions of my conference. When I returned there was a brand new box in it's place. I had a small little problem when I used the microwave, it blew a breaker for that part of the room. I was on my way out anyway, so I stopped by the front desk to let them know what had happened, and as I walked away I heard the clerk call maintenance and report what I had said. When I went back to my room (about an hour and a half later) everything was working fine. I travel a lot, and if I ever happen to get back to KC I will stay at the Embassy Suites by the Kansas City International Airport.

Terrible stay despite nice hotel.

The good: rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable; adjoining rooms available; inside (lobby) is spacious and lovely; ; rooms have micro, fridge, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer; bathtubs are deep; ice machines are easily accessible; extra sinks in main area and bedroom; both pool and fitness center are clean; great complimentary breakfast.
The bad: check-in took forever and it seemed like unnecessary questions were asked; the rooms I requested and spoke to the front desk about both before and after making my reservation were not available at check-in (the affirmation that I would have the rooms requested are the reason I actually made the reservation); evening staff was curt and cold; my room did not have the Welcome book that has info regarding the hotel ( which I found out at checkout I should have had) so I had a lot of questions as this being my first time there; there's never enough sugar/creamer in the rooms for coffee/tea; I was not asked how my stay was at check-out...if I had been, I would not be writing this review.
The ugly: parking is $8! (absurd); the beds are so worn, they lean to one side (both pillows and bed are way too soft for my liking..just seems they're old); over 40 screaming kids at any given moment in pool area made it impossible to enjoy it (the pool was the main reason we stayed); teenagers literally running the floors in the middle of the night sounded like a herd of elephants and front desk seemed helpless to stop them although they eventually did (I asked for a refund for both rooms I rented and planned on relocating because I couldn't sleep and already had a terrible headache from the screaming monsters in the pool {adult guests did not accompany all their under 18 children to the pool as is "required"}, but they assured me if the running continued they'd ask the culprits to leave).
In the end: I MAY be willing to give this property one last chance before I consider it a definite 'do not stay' for myself/friends/family because a lot of my bad experience resulted from the other guests, but it's a big maybe.
