We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in August for a trip to Sea World, the USS Midway and Legoland. It took us 10 minutes to get to Sea World. We were so close, we walked to the USS Midway and a Harbor Tour on our 2nd day and it took us 5 minutes more +to walk down to the Seaport Village. Perfect location!

We had a Harbor View room and watched the ships on the bay and were able to see fireworks at night. Great breakfast, but make sure to go early. Great variety of food and an awesome omelet bar. Everyone was very nice and accomodating. We stayed in a double double suite and it was the perfect size for 6 people. Refrigerator and microwave in room.

The only negative was there was no beach close by. It is only valet parking, but it was pretty quick service and not a problem for us. Overall a wonderful place to stay and we will stay there again if ever in San Diego

The Embassy Suites downtown was a great location to stay for our family of four. It is at the far end of downtown so it avoids the hustle and bustle of the Gaslamp Quarter - however, with an abundance of handsome cabs (the bikes that are like more +taxis) our family easily ate out in the Gaslamp area for dinner several nights. The Seaport Village is just across the street and is a wonderful area to walk around during the day. My husband was in San Diego for a convention, so my two boys and I would walk around Seaport Village during the day - lunch can be purchased at the many dining options within Seaport Village and there are so many family friendly shops to browse in and out of. Captain's Cove was the favorite of my two sons - lots to look at!

The Embassy Suites offers a nice option for families as it has a separate bedroom for adults and the living area has a sofa bed where the kids sleep - they have their own TV and get to feel like they have their own room. The breakfast was great - lots of options - hot omelettes made to order, cold cereals, yogurt, fruit, bagels, danish, muffins - my one son is an early morning eater and would stuff himself at breakfast - my other is a late breakfast eater and would bring yogurt and a banana back to the room and eat it after a few morning cartoons (all rooms have a fridge so the yogurt can be kept cold.)

The USS Midway is a short walk and can actually be seen from many of the rooms at the Embassy. If your kids love anything military San Diego and Coronado area in general will be a wonderful adventure for them - highly recommend the USS Midway tour (self guided). I could go on all day about the awesome time we had in San Diego - even if the weather was cold for February.
