We stayed at the Embassy Suites DC over the Easter weekend. The hotel was super clean and the rooms were very large. There is a bedroom with 2 queen beds, room for a pack play and then some. Then there is a large bathroom and wet bar with small more +fridge, microwave and sink. The living room is large with a dining table, tv, pullout couch and lounge chair.

The hotel has little river that runs through the lobby that is home to some large koi. Twice a day the children can meet a staff member in a designated spot and get food to feed the fish. It was a highlight for them and we had to be back each day in time for the evening feeding! In the morning there is a huge breakfast that is offered and part of your hotel stay...free. There were 3 staff making omletts, a waffle station, a buffet with meats, eggs, and potatoes. Lots of fruit, yogurt, bagels, danish, juices and coffee are all available. We ate like kings each day and often were too full to even have lunch. In addition, there is a managers reception at night with free drinks and a small buffet with nachos or fruit and pretzels. Not much to munch on but still a treat for the kids to go downstairs and get something to eat.

The pool was closed for part of our stay for repairs which was disappointing for the kids but necessary I am sure. The parking lot was full and they directed us to a nearby hotel where we had permission to park our car. There was a restaurant on property that was really good and offered a good children's menu. The hotel was a clean and comfortable environment to stay in and felt like a little oasis in the big city.

This was a great trip. I think all families should take their children on a Washington DC trip if at all possible. It was so rewarded to see our Nation's Capital up close and personal. The overwhelming amount of history to explore is unbelievable. A more +lot can be said for touring our government buildings. The White House to see where the President lives and works, see Congress in action at the US Capital. See the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights and the Magna Carta at the National Archives, The US Supreme Court, The Library of Congress, and see actual money being printed at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing! The beautiful monuments and memorials, The Washington Monument, The Lincoln Memorial, The Jefferson Memorial, The FDR Memorial. The Vietnam, Korean, World War I, World War II Memorials. The Arlington Cemetery to witness the awesome Changing of the Guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, the grave sites of John F. Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy, 2 of their children, Robert Kennedy, Ted Kennedy and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Nearby is the Iwo Jima Memorial and the 9/11 Memorial at the Pentagon. Then there's the many Smithsonian Museums on the National Mall. The National Museums of Air & Space, Natural History and American History (aka America's Attic) are simply not to be missed. The Newseum (the world's largest news museum), The National Museum of Crime & Punishment (where America's Most Wanted is filmed) and the International Spy Museum are all good choices too. Let's not forget about Mount Vernon (George Washington's Estate), Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's Estate) and Cedar Hill (Fredrick Douglas's Estate). It's a very humbling experience that brings about strong feelings of pride, patriotism and awe at the same time. There nothing like being able to see and touch history. Whether you are 9 or 99, the learning simply never stops. Thumbs up for a DC Family Trip.

By the way, the Embassy Suites @ Chevy Chase Pavillion is perfect for families. The rooms are very clean and decorated very nicely. You automatically have 2 rooms so you don't have to be crowed on top of each other. There's room to spread out. Parents can watch one TV while the kids play video games or watch their own movie on the other TV. There's a microwave, fridge & sink, table & chairs so you can stock up your own food & snacks. Daily cooked to order breakfast with everything anyone in your family would want, and a daily reception with drinks & snacks. If you forgot to pack something or somebody gets sick, they have a full-scale CVS Drug Store on site.

There is a Metro Subway Station right in the hotel! You just take the escalator down and hop a Metro train, in a few minutes you will be at any DC attraction of your choice. This was the best, no need to rent a car, no need to pay daily parking surcharges to hotel and no parking nightmare since parking is not allowed at most of the places you'll visit. Also, Chevy Chase Pavillion is a huge very nice mall, so whether you're a die-hard shopper or simply need to grab an item for your kids, you don't even have leave the hotel, it's part of the mall! If you are traveling with kids, Embassy Suites is the way to go.

Our family of 5 spent a week in DC summer of 2009. We chose the Embassy suites per reviews we had seen and was not disappointed!! The rooms were large with a pull out bed in the living room and a separate bed room. Some hotels call their rooms more +"suites" but this one truly was (and it was a standard room too!). The location is perfect as it was within a few blocks of the museums. This is an extremely important decision when staying in DC with kids as you do not want to drive everywhere because parking is a pain and you don't want to add additional walking onto an already walking packed day. The inclusive breakfast at the Embassy was excellent although you need to be an early riser to avoid the lines. We did order room service one evening so the kids could watch an in room movie and have pizza. Kids are so easy to please at this age! One of the days we were there we started to head out in the AM and it was raining. The front desk offered (without our asking)umbrellas for each of us to use for the day! What a thoughtful and appreciated thing to do!! Those umbrellas helped salvage our rainy day as we were still able to make it to the museums without getting drenched! We highly recommend this Hotel and will definitely stay there again on our next visit to DC!!

The hotel was very clean. The bedroom had two beds and there was a pull out sleeper sofa in the living room area. It was very comfortable for our family of 4 which includes 2 teenagers. There also were 2 TV's. The breakfast buffet (which more +was included in the price) had a great selection, however it did get very crowded each day and you might have to search for a table. The breakfast food was great with made to order omelets and cook your own waffles and a wide selection of other items. The managers evening reception had 1 or 2 snack type foods such as chips & salsa or veggies & dip and free cocktails. The hotel was about a 5-7 minute walk to the subway system. We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend this hotel to all families that don't mind a short walk to the subway. I feel that we got a good value for the price.

Want a great place to stay in Washington DC that can accommodate a family of 5? Embassy Suites in Crystal City. It is a train ride away from Washington DC and a great place to stay. Park your car, sorry there is a daily fee, and use the more +great transit system they have set up. The train station in 3 blocks from the hotel.

The hotel includes breakfast every morning. IT has great selections and they will make your eggs or omelets to order. I always look for a hotel that includes breakfast.

The rooms have a bedroom and a separate living room. The living room has a pull out sofa and the bedroom can have 2 Q or 1K. This gives my family of 5 plenty of sleeping options and with 2 TVs, and a small kitchen, it's all great.

The best part is the evening Manager's Reception. They offer free drinks, beer wine or mixed drinks for 2 hours each night. They also offer soft drinks for the kids and cold appetizers; such as chips, salsa and cheese and crackers. With the restaurant right there, you can also order a pizza for dinner for a charge.

They train takes your right into town and then there is a lot of walking, but it is a great place. Some of the museums are free. You need a party of 10 to get inside the White House, and no bags, etc. are allowed. Plan for this side trip.(Everyone has to be pre-registered also.)There are other options to getting a tour of the White House, check out their website.

The Washington Monument is also a side trip to plan for. Get your tickets before you go!!

We ate at the ESPN Zone is was great. Great games for the kids.

We went during April vacation and had a great time. We stayed 2 nights and felt we saw a great deal of the sites.
