Overview

About Fair Hills Resort

Detroit Lakes, MN

Fair Hills offers a summer vacation spot so perfect, you'll think you've stepped back in time. Families can play golf or tennis, explore the woods or water ski in the lake. The resort is open seasonally from May through September. Special sports weeks are offered in the summer months. June through August is known as "Family Season" at Fair Hills, during which sports lessons and schedule activities are available. A pool is usually brimming with kids.

Families stay in cozy cabins that offer a rustic experience. Most cabins feature the bare necessities, as the vacation experience promotes getting outdoors. Cabins come with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. Pack 'N Plays are also provided at no extra charge. Most units present a dining table and chairs, but no sitting area or living room. Also, no hair dryers, irons, televisions or phones are in the cabins. Also, do not expect air-conditioning, though often it is so cool that you don't need it. Box fans are available for a daily fee.

Besides the front desk, the Lodge houses a soda fountain, a gift shop, a library and a game room. Activities are planned for kids between the ages of 4 and 8, though 3 year olds may be able to participate by request. Babysitters are also available upon request. Fair Hills offers weekly docking for families who want to boat to the resort; however, RV's are not allowed. Mealtime is one of Fair Hill's highlights. A meal plan is available. Guests receive three heart meals a day during schedule times. Chef Cheryl makes kid-friendly pancakes shaped like kangaroos, golf carts and shining suns. The meal plan is a good idea, as the nearest quaint grocery store is six miles away in Cormorant Village.
