Terrible wedding group service

by clo12345678910

We signed a contract with Fairbanks Inn 2 months before our wedding date, when a guest notified us that the nearby Comfort Inn was fully booked. In the contract, Fairbanks agreed to provide a discounted rate to guests who mentioned our names when booking. The group rate they offered was the same as the Comfort Inn, although this hotel is not nearly as nice.

Two days before our wedding, I stopped by the hotel to drop off welcome bags for the front desk to hand out to our guests. The receptionist insisted that there was no wedding group staying at the hotel this weekend, no contract on file, and no reservations made under our group discount. I knew that a number of our family and friends booked rooms here. It was extremely frustrating to realize that we had directed significant business to this hotel and that they had blatantly disregarded our fully executed contract.

The receptionist showed me the list of reservations on her computer, and I was able to point to a few names that I knew were with our party. Most had not been booked with a wedding group rate. One family was booked under a wedding group rate, but it was more expensive than we had agreed in our contract!

After a few moments of digging through her emails the receptionist found our contract. I asked her to please just ask guests as they checked in if they were with our wedding, hand out the welcome bags, and adjust the rate that they were being charged if it wasn't correct. She said she would try her best but couldn't promise anything.

Needless to say, no one wants to deal with such a disaster two days before their wedding, and when guests are traveling from far out of town to celebrate. I am extremely dissatisfied with the service and quality of the Fairbanks Inn and would not recommend it to anyone --- especially not large groups.

Good one night stay

by Mrfiz

They had a bad windstorm and many trees were down and power was out in many areas. We were lucky to find an available room.
Motel is built into a hillside so we were on the ground floor (front) even though our room number was in the 200’s. Many locals staying there on this cold night. Desk personnel were very friendly and helpful.
Large comfortable room with king sized bed, fridge and m’wave. Vanity sink in addition to a sink in the bath area. Plenty of hot water but lighting (other than in the bath area) is marginal. Furniture is a bit dated. Sliding door with a balcony overlooks a spacious grass area and pool.
TV with several channels. But the channel guide provided by the motel doesn’t jive with the channels.
Guidebook provided by the motel lists houses of worship, local entertainment venues, shops, etc. A nice touch.
Breakfast area near check in desk offers cereal, breads, pancakes and you-make waffles. Also juice, fruit and coffee. No eggs or meat.
Price of $111 is ok for value received.
